Incredimail Complaint - Sneaky way to plant product on my computer
We have been using the free version of Incredimail for several years. Lately, every time we access our mail, a notice is displayed that an update is available and two options are offered: either yes, I want the update, or no, defer til later. If we chose the defer til later option, we have to go through this every time we access the mail. So, we decided to go ahead with the update, thinking it will probably fix some errors in the existing system. Well, after we did, it took a very long time to download the update (now referred to as an upgrade). Once it was finished, it described a whole set of new features. These new features are apparently resource gobblers, as my computer's performance was degraded significantly, even whil not accessing email. On top of this, when I went to the Internet, I received a notice that My Internet face page needs to be changed. It gave me the option of selecting MyStart Page or stay with the default. Even though I selected the stay with the default, it changed it to MyStart Page. This caused a significant degrading of my Internet performance, so I changed it back to my original start page.
This is a sneaky way for Incredimail to insert itself between the user and his ISP, giving Incredimail the opportunity to capitalize on the ads it posts on the start page. I don't appreciate that and am tempted to take Incredimail off my computer. Who needs it?
