Delta Airlines Complaint - No wonder Delta is in financial trouble!
COLUMBUS, OHIO -- My friend and I made reservations through Expedia for a trip (weekend)at Disney World. Our package included round trip tickets on Delta Airline, which I had never flown, and hotel tickets in Orlando.
I have flown Southwest and Continental quite a lot especially since 911. But I have never encountered such absolute hostility and inconsideration. Yes, you need to be on time but sometimes extenuating circumstance such as an accident on route and then an impromptu comedy routine in long term parking by a couple of senior citizens, made my friend and I two minutes late of signing in our luggage. It seems Delta has a 30 minute cutoff for doing this task. We arrived to find all this out and it subsequently took us approximately six and one-half minutes to check our luggage, get a later flight at a cost of $25 each EXTRA and a two hour delay. We settled in to wait on this now very expensive NEXT flight when we observed the flight we were supposed to get on setting at the gate. IT had not only not left yet but had not even been boarded yet. We watched for another TEN MINUTES of no activity until finally the flight was boarded. We then sat another full seven minutes until the plane FINALLY left to take off.
This was absolutely ridiculous. There were very few people in the terminal for Delta. The flight was not full and no one was in any hurry yet we had to pay another fifty dollars and wait another two hours because WE WERE TWO MINUTES LATE! I have sat with others and watched people run to catch a Southwest flight that was ready to take off. Same with Continental. What is Delta's problem? I could understand if the terminal was full and there were lines and lines of people. There was no one waiting to get bags checked! The flight was half filled!!
Now, keeping in mind we made these reservations in February and the trip was not until the first part of May, on the return trip we were pulled to the side from boarding because we had no seat assignment. We checked in as required but no seat assignment was given. Everyone else boarded without incident but we had to wait until the computer gave us a seat on a flight that was, once again, not but half full. And to put the icing on the cake, I commented to my friend that never again would I fly Delta, the ticket lady shot back in a very nasty tone..."You have your choice!" I wonder if she realizes her words are what may have her job. Does this woman emulate how Delta management feels? They have also passed that attitude to their employees.
