Spirit Airlines Complaint - The Devil in Spirit Airlines

Complaint
Review by miki1982 on 2011-03-11
Travelers demand respect and will not stand for unjust practices. The customers of Spirit Airlines are dispirited. The first "ultra low cost carrier" implies deceptive tacked on fees in its quest to be the most profitable airline in the industry. It charges $3 for basic lifeblood water in a vessel that dehydrates the body so rapidly that if you choose not to purchase, you could possibly cause irreparable, irreversible damage to your body.

Many have seen the mile long lines of water bottles removed in foreign "security" checkpointsRecently on a flight when asking for "free water" one of the cheapest most readily available "god given" resources on earth their steward kindly told the customer they could use their cup to fill it with the dirty toilet water. Kindly he then offered her "ice chips".

In the terminal another customer was charged for a carry on bag which even the airline kindly per misses one free of charge. When she later displayed that she could pack it differently so that it would fit their "standards". She was told she had already paid. The "friendly" employee added "How was I supposed to know?. "Well" , she responded, "You could have asked." She then told her, in the industry standard fear inducing rhetoric that if she said another word she would not be flying. She cordially complied and audibly spoke with her mother allowing everyone who was witnessing to hear the injustice.

Spirit Airlines has reinvented the "old" airline salute "Thank you for traveling with us". But customers can always calm their nerves on the "reasonably priced" combo assortment of fine quality American beers for $6 a piece. To the tune of one ultra low $641 ticket, plus $30 per suitcase, and $20 for food.

Spirit should rectify this in the people's court before it lands in the criminal justice system.. Businesses that bend rules the rules will suffer the consequences and pay the heavier price. If they want to succeed they should do what is right by them and by the people.

IMO, Peoples Express was the first low cost carrier. They swung a cash register down the aisles early in the flight, and you paid for your ticket. Kind of like a train ticket.

As for water, only some people need water when they fly. I never drink water when I fly, but I can understand that some people may want/need it.

I flew Peoples Express from DC to London back in the day. If I remember, they didn't provide food, drinks, or anything. We packed our food, etc. Made perfect sense to me. Those airline meals have always been lousy and result in outrageous amounts of empty containers and trash. That People's Express flight was amazingly cheap.

It occurs to me that, if I were standing in line trying to check in to a flight, and I had to wait for someone who has repacked her bag and now wants a refund, I'd be pretty annoyed.

I don't like the fact that airlines lately have all kinds of extra baggage charges and all that. But nothing the OP desribes makes me less likely to use Spirit Airlines, as compared to any other.
