Syntax Group Complaint - Syntax customer support or lack of it!!
BROOKLYN, NEW YORK -- I bought a 30" Olevia LCD from Amazon for $1200 mid March and all was fine until I started having problems,
1) Blue screen flash - this was fixed with a new part.
2) Speaker not working - New PC board fitted and still the speaker will not work
3) Constant hum from the TV - Told to turn it to the "bright" setting, to me this is unacceptable to me.
I decided to reject the set under the rules of the Syntax warranty (see Syntax website) which clearly states:
"All Syntax Ölevia LCD TVs and LCOS TVs include a 60 days DOA provision from date of purchase that allows customers to return the product for a full refund"
The above text has been changed today (4 th May 2005) to read the following. To say I am annoyed is putting it lightly.
"All Syntax Ölevia LCD TVs and LCOS TVs include a 30 days DOA provision from date of purchase that allows our resellers to return the product for a full credit."
I was declined this offer and was told that I would have to return the set for a "new one" or "like new" - this is unacceptable. I was told by Syntax to go back to Amazon.
I'm off to file reports with the BBB (Better Business Bureau), Department of Consumer Affairs and the Californian State Attorney General.
So just a warning to all out their who might of bought a Syntax TV - Be aware of the bad customer support.
