Filtrete Water Bottles Complaint - Worst Water Filtration Ever

Review by mksuin on 2011-03-12
If you let your water sit in the bottles for any long period of time i.e. overnight, the water takes on the nastiest taste, and after a few uses the bottles started leaking... Took mine to the local Goodwill.. All that for a mere 40 bucks.

Have you checked or changed the actual filter? Even if the filter is new, it could be a bad batch.

As an aside, why would you want to donate water bottles to Goodwill when they are possibly causing a bad taste - I wouldn't want to pass the issue on to a needy person.

I concur with lee.

Giving the needy tainted water, would also be like assuming they would want the stumps of muffins or something?

Hey DIRM, I actually saw muffin stumps being sold. I guess the got the idea from Seinfeld.

Tainted water = tainted love....

I wonder if you have to "pre-treat" the filter before filtering water for drinking. I don't know about the Filtrete water bottle filters, but I know that with a Brita or Pur carafe filter, you have to run at least two pitchers of water through to pre-treat the filter, before pouring in water to be filtered for drinking. I assume that the OP did not pre-treat the filters before use...I assume that the Filtrete filters are activated charcoal, like the Brita and Pur filters.
