cracker barrel Complaint - Menu Clarity for Fancy Fixin's Steak Dinner
WILSON, NORTH CAROLINA -- On May 01, 2005 I went to cracker barrel for supper with my family. We love the cracker barrels food and go there often. I got a craving for a steak that night so that's what I ordered. The menu states "Our 8 0z. USDA Choice Top Sirloin seasoned and grilled to your order. If you like, substitute a House Salad and Baked Potato for the three vegetables." The price is $9.99. Just for your info. 3 vegs come with every Fancy Fixins dinner. Anyway, to me that sounds like I can get the salad and baked potato in place of the 3 vegs. with no extra charge....but when I received the bill, the charge was $12.47. When I asked the waitress about it she said "they" would take it off at the front. When I got to the front the cashier said that they had to charge me $1.49 xtra for the salad and .99 xtra for the potato and it does say this in the menu under the vegs and sides section. But its confusing. I understand if I was ordering a regular meal and I wanted to substitute a potato or salad that I would be charged xtra for this, but I am buying a $9.99 steak and I am giving up 1 vegetable, plus it seems to me the menu should say "at an extra charge you can substitute a salad and baked potato." When I got home I decided to call and talk to the manager. He told me I was charged correctly. I still don't understand why the menu isn't clearer. I went online to the cb's complaint department the same night but have heard nothing as of yet. Can anyone else give me their opinions on this? I am not a complainer, but I do want to stand up for what I think is right. Thanks for listening to my venting.
