Texas Auto Online Complaint - Duped By Texas Auto Online
HOUSTON, TEXAS -- I purchased a 2005 Dodge Ram truck from Texas Auto Online. The deal itself was very smooth. The salesman seemed knowledgeable and willing to answer all questions I had regarding the truck considering I was purchasing it site unseen. we reached an agreement on the price of the truck and the finance department got the deal done within 48 hours.
Once the deal was done and they had my money is when the problems began. First the car was to be delivered to me on a Tuesday and wound up showing up at 11PM Thursday evening after 3 days of changing stories. truth is the trucking company did not have enough cars for transport and wanted to wait till they did. The dealership knew this but chose to lie to me everyday about what was really going on. When I accepted the truck from the transport service I made copius notes indicating I was accepting the truck at night and should there be issues identified the next day when I cold thoroughly inspect the truck I have the right to file a complaint/claim to have the issues resolved.
First, the truck showed up and was missing the hard top cover for the back ($750-1k). Second the truck had 4 tires of which only 2 were matching (55s in the front) and the other two were not only mismatched but were the wrong size (one was a 60 the other a 75 on the rear). The side view mirrors do not work and appear to require a new motor. I am hoping this will be covered under the extended warranty I purchased. Additionally, there is a terrible vibration when driving and a rattling coming from the undercarraige.
I was told the truck had been detailed inside and out but when it arrived there was dried mud in the wheel bases and throughout the inside of the truck. When I asked the salesman about this he said, "This is my mistake." They offered to pay for the cleaning of the truck but in light of the major issues with the truck I told them I was not seeking reimbursement for that.
At this point I am looking at a minimum of $1500 to correct the issues with the truck and more likely $2k. When I contacted the dealer they refused to make good on any of the items that were wrong with the truck or missing and told me I was "On my own."
This is the most dishonest dealership I have ever dealt with and I hope those of you reading this do not make the same mistake I made buying an automobile from this less than reputable dealer.
I have contacted an attorney in Houston and will be seeking legal damages to make me whole. Please learn from my mistake!!!
