Air Berlin Airline round trip airfare with no travel restriction date - Complaint
Review by blueskythegelstons on 2011-03-23
NEW YORK, NEW YORK -- I have won their auction for round trip Air Berlin airline tickets in January, 2011. There was no travel restriction mentioned. When I booked my trip with them, they told me there was no return flight in July from Germany to SFO. Two days after they denied my request, I saw the Skyauction.com had another auction just like mine going on. That one did not mention no July travel either. I believe they purposefully lured people to the auction and would not honor the high travel season. The auction they put one was not what they had promised us. I have filed a complaint with www.IC3.gov, the Internet Crime Complaint Center. Now I realized there so many of you are the victims of Skyauction.com. I suggest that all of you should report to our Internet Crime Complaint Center.
Company Response:
Hi Bluesky, Skyauction.com has been running auctions for air flights since we founded our website in 1999. It is true that over the course of our tenure we have had members win auctions which we were unable to fulfill due to seat availability, particularly on peak dates. This is the primary reason the following is included in each and every offer we put up for auction: “Reservations are subject to the availability of specific classes of service as contracted with the carrier and not every flight or date may be available. Seats are not currently held on any specific flights and reservations will be made after submission of travel dates by the customer. “ It is exactly the same premise that the airlines themselves work on, availability dictates what dates can or cannot be secured. Of course we don’t charge anyone who wins an auction, whose seats can’t be secured on the dates they choose. We, more than you, dislike putting in the time and money to create and run auctions, work the reservation only to be left without a confirmation and a dissatisfied customer as well. It would certainly be in our interest to confirm every single reservation since we have already invested in these offers and to turn away business only costs us money at the end of the day. We have sold tens of thousands of airline tickets utilizing this simple, industry standard rationale. If I can be of any assistance to you, or if you have other outstanding issues don’t hesitate to call our customer service line at 212-486-1250 x 122. Truly, Sal Esposito

That site is very misleading. I went there to check them out too, their auctions look like they are good deals until you scroll down and see all the fees and surcharges they add into the auction, hardly makes it a good deal.
