Dell Financial Services Complaint - Harassment! I Get 20 Phone Calls A Day... Even If I Spoke To Them The Day Before! - Financing Dell Computers

Financing Dell Computers - Complaint
Review by theresgottabeabetterway on 2011-03-24
BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS -- I work for a company in Boston with 50+ employees and ever single employee has a Dell computer which is leased. We pay almost $4,000 a month to Dell for computers that are 7 years old. Leasing computers is a VERY bad idea. We've been in business for 50 years and happened to have a bad year this year falling behind in some payments because of cash flow. Dell happened to be one of the accounts that got behind one or two months but we consistently made monthly payments. Even though we were making monthly payments we were still ALWAYS behind a month and just could catch up. Dell has an automated call center that calls customers with past due invoices on a DAILY Basis. Even if you talk to them on a Monday and tell them you won't be able to pay for another 15 days they will call you again on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

On top of that. EACH computer has there own invoice # and the calls are made for EACH invoice. On a daily basis I get 16- 20 phone calls from DELL EVERY day. I told them it was harassment and they don't really care.

They said "its an automated call system and there is nothing they can do about it" Don't lease your computers from DELL... its time for us to get new computers and will be going somewhere else.

Even if you leased your computers from Joe-Blo's PC World, they'd still be calling you wanting their money.

Any company that is due $4000 a month, and doesn't get it on time, is going to be upset. I know I would be, if I loaned someone money.

The difference is in how it is handled. With a mortgage, you'll get a few letters and within a few months you'll be in foreclosure. No phone calls.

On the other extreme is something like Dell Financial Services. You'll get your normal bills, and maybe a letter. But you'll get a bunch of phone calls.

I don't think the matter of whether leasing is a sound financial strategy is very relevant here. The bottom line is your company is struggling to pay this and other bills. Good luck.

Clutz> I'll have you know that Joe-Blo's PC World down on 24th Street would never lower themselves to such standards as asking for money that is due them.

Actually, Joe-Blo's went out of business - too many customers defaulted on their loans.

Is it Dell calling or a collection agency for Dell? Would it be better if they just sent this account to their lawyers to take your company to court to pay (and do it on a regular basis)?

I dont mind any businesses bothering me since its being called on my disposable phone which is pre-paid and you can silence the ringer.

sounds to me that the issue is not calls, its the business not paying. last I checked being a month behind in any bill is a bad thing. just cause you pay it late does not make you a good customer. the issues here is not dell, its your business. time to start cutting, maybe you need to layoff some employees. maybe some other items need to be cut. time to make hard decisions. if you lay off two employees you cut the bill for the computers down by returning two of them, plus you save on payroll and taxes. with that savings you catch up on the bills and try to recover. I know its hard but sometimes you have to make tough choices or fail in business. right now its clear your cash out does not equal your cash in. time to cut.
