Audra Bruemmer Photography Complaint - Worst Photographer Ever

HILTON HEAD, SOUTH CAROLINA -- Worst experience of my life! I've never had anyone be so rude, unorganized and hard to get in touch with in my life. Do not hire her unless you don't mind waiting 2 years to get your photos back! To start from the beginning, I hired her as my wedding photographer, a few weeks before the wedding I sent her some sample photos that I liked so that she could get an idea of what I was looking for. I also told her that I wanted a lot of pictures of my friends and family b/c I don't get to see them very often. So on the day of my wedding she shows up late, then she doesn't seem to have any idea what to do or where we should take pictures....not very much of a creative mind. During the ceremony EVERY SINGLE picture she took of my husband and I and our wedding party were all cut off at the knee. She seriously did not take 1 full length picture of us at the alter. What bride doesn't want a full length picture of her and her husband at the alter?? My dress was to the sand yet every picture she took, ended at the knee. Horrible! After the ceremony we took pictures and it took forever b/c she had no idea what she was doing! She kept asking me what I wanted....I mean I don't mean to sound ignorant but isn't the photographer supposed to be telling us which poses to make? I always thought that I wasn't the one who was supposed to come up with every pose. She basically told us to keep walking down the beach so now I have a bunch of pictures of the wedding party walking. WTF?? Then (as if it couldn't get any worse) at the reception I COULDN'T EVEN FIND HER!!! She completely disappeared! Not only could I not find her, but she didn't get any pictures of my friends and family....basically no pictures were taken at the reception. I mean none! I don't have pictures of any of the speeches, none of the bouquet toss or the garder belt, nobody dancing, no family laughing.....NOTHING!!!! It's so bad b/c I specifically told her I don't get to see my family much and I wanted pictures of them and after all of that...I have none. I seriously bawled my eyes out when I got my pictures back. She must be so stupid to think she did a good job when she did nothing I asked for. It doesn't even end there! In her contract it states that she will send me CD's of all the pictures from the wedding.....so she sent me 1 CD of some pictures and turns into a total b*#!@ when I ask her for the rest of them.

Every time I tried to email or call her it seriously took her weeks to respond. Then after 3 weeks of waiting for a simple response she writes me back and doesn't even address my previous questions! I finally got so fed up with her that I told her to please just send me the pictures on CD's and include the few I chose for her to print. I said, "I really just want my pictures" and she writes me back and says, "actually they're MY pictures!!" To make a very long battle/story as short as possible....I will cut to the very end; two years after my wedding I finally got all my pictures. Pictures that I had paid for 2 years before. It took this long b/c it seriously takes her that long to respond to your emails. She's not only horrible at what she does, she's a mean, uncaring person who doesn't give a crap about you or your pictures. I hope this letter prevents everyone from using her b/c it really was the worst experience of my life. I'm just happy that it's finally over....even if I did end up with horrible pictures.

Audra I hope you read this so that anyone who doesn't see this warning against you, at least you can see all your mistakes and will at least attempt to fix what you can...obviously even after schooling your talent for photography can't be fixed....but you can at least try to fix your response time.

Good review. I can't imagine how it must feel to have that kind of experience. It must be heartbreaking. The best thing you can do is pass on your experience, like you're doing.

I'm sorry to hear you had an issue. its always best to ask for references in a service job like that. I know its to late now, but always check on things before buying. also, in the photo business, the photographer does own the pictures. well, actually the negatives or digital source. you don't own them, you pay for prints or copies of the source for your use, but the original negatives or digital content belongs to the photographer. Rarely does a photographer give those up, unless it was agreed to in the contract or ordered by a judge.

I would recommend posting this on theknot.com so that bride-to-be's know to stay away from this photographer.

It's very important to throughly research any photographer before you use them. Ask about your rights to the photos, if they offer refunds, and look at ample samples. Look for testimonials on their site, call around for recommendations. If the photographer is highly-spoken of with an impeccable reputation and beautiful photos that speak to your heart in their portfolio, they're a safer bet.
