High Mark Blue Cross Blue Shield of Pa Complaint - Charges your Credit Card for No Reason:

Review by Miner on 2011-03-25
PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA -- I recently had the dis-pleasure of dealing with Highmark Bluecross and Blue Shield from Pittsburgh PA. I was turned down for a individual health care policy. That is fine and not the problem. The issue is that the Corporation charged my C. C. even though I do not have a policy. They said (after numerous phone calls and plenty of prompts and hold time) that tis was Company practise. I would receive a refund in 3-4 weeks.

However, in the mean time I have to pay the c. c. card before the reimbursement check arrives.

This is a unfair and deceptive practise.

What was the exact chain of events? How and when did they get your CC information? Was the charge a deposit, a bill for the first month, quarter, etc? How much money is it? How is the practice deceptive?

I usually don't have to pay amounts that are refunded within 3 weeks on my credit card, or if I do, it is after the amount had been refunded for the following billing cycle. I think once I called the CC company, pointed out the refund, and asked to deduct that amount from my current payment due. They agreed.
