Insignia Homes Complaint - Builder lacks quality standards
This builder promises "we build it your way." What they mean is we build it your way as long as its our way. The quality of their build is mediocre at best. Electricians ran wiring that wound up looking like silly string running through our attic and we have now found outlets where wires were not connected properly. The worst part is the drywall work that their contractors did. You can see practically every seem in the entire house from walls to ceilings. You can notice it more when you start to paint over there drab colors. There is not enough joint compound on any of the corners and they have begun to crack. We have dimples all over the ceiling which tells me they did not use enough spacking and there are tons of nail pops. Their response to this problem was all of these problems happened because of the weather change which occurred during the build process. The painters pretty much globed the paint on the walls, so much so that the paint actually sags in spots. Plus they never removed the drywall dust from the wall before they painted. So there are spots where the wall looked like it was textured. The trim work is also a problem. Globed on paint, runs in the paint and just crappy paint in general has us sanding down the trim and repainting. We have fixed a lot on our own because we have no trust in their abilities to do it right. They should terminate their drywallers and their painters and find competent help. They do not seem to know all they should about building. Things like you have to vent a gas cooktop and yes you can put R-15 in a 2x4 wall which they said we could not. Just simple things like this through out the build process lead me to believe they were lacking in some building knowledge. Every thing was a struggle and a pain. Criticisms were met with verbal abuse, to the point where our realtor had to act as a go between. I have never been cussed out by a business owner before and was dumb founded when this happened. Everything is kosher as long as you don't complain about anything. They have a warranty which is supposed to cover these things. My concern is will they fix it properly or with the incompetent help who did it the first time.
