Carnival Cruise Line Informative - Carnival Doesn't Care About You!
On January 14, 2011 I had a total knee replacement. After rehab I thought it would be great to get away on a cruise. I booked a 7 day cruise out of New Orleans for February 25. Unfortunately, I did not insure our trip since it was only 3 weeks away at the time of booking. On February 18th, I fell at home with my leg underneath me. The incision tore open and the patellar tendon ruptured. After surgery on the 19, I was told I could not go out of the country for any reason. On February 21, while still in the hospital, I had to cancel our cruise.
We cruise at least 2 times per year. The last 5 cruises were on Carnival.
I was told on the phone by Carnival that since we had not cancelled 14 days prior to sailing, we would not get either a refund or a credit towards a future cruise. The customer service person told me that they would not be able to book the room only 5 days before the cruise. I went online like I was booking a cruise on Thursday, Feb. 24, and found that the cruise was sold out.
What happened to businesses who care about the people they are serving?
This was a horrific accident that has affected all aspects of my life.
I am self employed as a pet sitter. I have clients cancel occasionally and have never and would never charge them for their booked sittings.
My friends, who also usually cruise Carnival, were appalled at Carnival's
lack of compassion. It's BIG BUSINESS BABY!
