Sterling BMW Complaint - Service Dept - Air Condition

Review by maibster on 2011-04-06
NEWPORT BEACH, CALIFORNIA -- My a/c went out under warranty at 24,000 miles. I took into Sterling BMW Newport Beach and they kept it for 1 day and did a minor fix. 4,500 miles later the a/c went out again, this time out of warranty. They kept it 3 days and did a dye test which showed it was the evaporator.

Because they didn't do the required dye test on the first visit, it would have showed the real problem, they wouldn't fix it and it was going to cost me $2800.

I didn't fix and won't go there ever again.

I'd think if the same component failed relatively soon after the warranty fix BMW would help you fix it. You don't give many details but assumed you spoke with the dealership again?

Do you know for a fact that there was a defect in the evaporator during the first repair? What was the "minor issue" that was fixed?
