I suspect that he buys better quality John Deere products to make this statement. You really need to spend 3 to 4 thousand dollars to get a half away decent product, regardless of brand. Tractors that sell for $2,000 at Home Depot or Lowes are low end junk. Please don't moan about how they don't make things like they used to when your being a cheap skate. They don't price things like they used to either, the built like a tank John Deere 318 cost $6,000 in 1980 new, that same tractor would cost $15,000 in today's dollars. You have to pay for Quality and $2,000 isn't paying for very much quality at all.
