Howard Johnson Bethel Complaint - Absolutely the worst hotel I ever saw

Review by savytraveler-01 on 2011-04-12
BETHEL, CONNECTICUT -- The hotel is absolutely the worst. I have no idea why it even exists. It is nearly a crime for the State of Connecticut to allow this hotel to open in the state! When you get inside of the hotel, you feel like it was in a 18th century ganster-infested Chicago neighbourhood. The persons in the front desk were rude, filthy, and unreasonable, making you wonder whether these ugliest creatures were created by God to punish human-beings. They acted as if they were doing a great favor to the customers to let them stay in their filthy hotel. The front room is small, smelly, and moldy. The ugly woman in the front desk threatened to deny us a room because we booked online rather than through her hotel to pay a higher price. She demanded that we had to wait outside of the hotel at mid night in a very cold early spring day. We were so upset that we cancelled the reservation and drove 2 blocks further to stay in Microtel, a very nice friendly hotel.

My advise to you is DO NOT STAY IN THIS HOTEL. Read the reviews before you book.

Was Chicago even around in the 1700's (that is the 18th Century)?

I'm not sure the looks of the woman has much to do with the hotel. I find it quite rude that you think that she shouldn't be working at the front desk based on her looks.

Chicago was founded in 1832, and gangsters began in the late 1800's in NYC. They came into vogue with Prohibition, which is probably when they hit Chicago. So those would be 19th century at the earliest.

I always looks at reviews before I book. Did you lose the money that you paid for this room?

This sounds like a pretty unfriendly place.

Ugly does not always describe physical appearance. This woman sounds pretty ugly.

Why did you have to wait outside at midnight? What time did you arrive at the hotel?

God doesn't make ugly.
