Slappa or Slappa.com Complaint - Make sure you know what you're buying before ordering!

CHARLOTTE, NC -- I am planning on going on vacation soon and need a bag for my laptop. Nothing fancy - just something to protect it. I found these items online and decided to give them a try. They arrived in a reasonable amount of time and were as described. The only problem is, my 15.4" Dell laptop didn't easily fit in the bag. It took two people to shove it in and to pull it out, and when the laptop was in the bag, the seams were obviously stretched. I asked for a return authorization, which I received. The problem is that the cost of the two items (bag and strap) was $42.98. I wound up paying $11.25 for the original shipping, $8.98 to ship it back, and $4.30 for a restocking fee. In other words, I paid $24.53 (more than half of the cost of the items) just for the opportunity to try their product that did not work as advertised.

BEWARE - make sure you know what you are buying before submitting your order.

Exactly what representations did they make regarding whether it would fit your particular laptop? I would not have assumed that all 15.4 inch laptop cases are exactly the same size.

What representations did they make concerning their refund poilcy, restocking fee, etc.

That's good advice: "make sure you know what you are buying before submitting your order".

I don't really see where slappa.com did anything objectionable here.

This is sage advice when buying anything over the internet, from any company.

If it doesn't meet your needs, you should expect to pay shipping both ways.

Therefore, if there is any doubt, buy locally. This advice isn't unique to buying from slappa.

Restocking fees are annoying, but if they disclosed them ahead of time, I don't see that they did anything wrong. And why should they pay for shipping for something you didn't want?

I read this review before making my first purchase at slappa.com - I called slappa before placing my first order and they were very helpful. I've placed 3 orders with slappa over the past 2 years and their products and service have been exceptional. I think if you (or anyone) would take the time to call before ordering, these issues would be avoided.
