Ameriprise Compliment - Ameriprise Auto Insurance - Amazingly Efficient Service

Compliment
Review by 130839 on 2011-04-20
I previously wrote a compliment on Ameriprise's rates (through Costco), but had never had to use their claim services.

Yesterday I had the misfortune of being in an auto accident. Some guy was speeding through a side lane in a parking lot and slammed into me when I was slowing for a stop sign in a two-way lane of the lot.

Ameriprise was amazingly efficient when I called them yesterday. When I called, I received a recording that someone would be with me in 90 seconds. The csa was very pleasant and walked me through the process. She then called a tow company and also Enterprise Rental Cars to pick me up so I could get a car to get home. (Yes, my car was that damaged.) On my way to the rental place, an adjuster called me to see where my car was being towed. These people were unbelievable.

When I returned home, my claims person called me to get my statement of the accident and also to let me know that she had already talked to my witnesses.

I haven't been in too many accidents in my life, but I just had to let everyone know how Ameriprise handles claims when an accident occurs. Awesome! Everything that they did occurred in about a 2-hour time span.

That IS excellent service! Great review. I take it you are ok, Singsing?

Excellent review.

Parking lots can be quite dangerous. I "t-boned" a guy many years ago by doing a similar thing. Fortunately I was going about 5mph when I hit him.

I'm impressed with your experience so far. I hope your car is repaired to your satisfaction.

Wow, that is great service. Good review!

unslated, I'm okay--just a little stiff. Hopefully that will go away with no further problems.

trmn8r, he hit the front of my car on the passenger side so hard that it looked like engine damage is possible. Hope not. I will hear more today.

Thanks, momsey :)

Sing, glad to hear that you are OK! It's great when you know that the insurance company you've chosen steps up to take care of their customers like this. I can totally relate, having a similar experience a few months ago. Do watch how you're feeling too, hopefully they have assigned you an injury caseworker too just in case you need to see a doctor.

As many consumers know, an insurance company is only as good as the manner they process claims; kudos to Ameriprise.

Thanks, jc. Boy, saj, isn't that the truth!

Sounds like they handled this very smoothly. I hope the rest of the process goes the same. Glad you are ok, sing!

Sorry to hear you had an accident, but at least you're getting excellent service. It can really make a difference. I hope you don't feel any discomfort tomorrow. You already have a lot going on.

Thanks, Nicole & Venice. So far, so good, Venice. I'm trying to remain calm and Zen-like. I had a funny experience with my rental car today. I should write a review about that :)

Sing, when I was in a car accident, I made them release me from the hospital because I felt fine. The pain didn't hit until late that night. It was like a wrecking ball. At first I thought I was just panicking because I was pregnant and away from home, but the pain was real.

I see this happened yesterday and you still feel okay, so you're probably out of the woods.

This is a good reminder of how important it is to wear your seat belts as well. I've had people laugh when I put on my seat belt to go from one end of a parking lot to the other. I tell them, accidents don't just happen on the street/roads. People let their guard down, thinking a serious accident can't happen in a parking lot because cars are going at a slow speed. Well, that's not always the case and you have to be prepared for the ONE time someone does speed through the lots.

I always remember when I was first getting my driver's license, my sweetie told me about a time when he was in a parking lot and was driving slow, another car came speeding around and hit him and completely flipped his car over! He said luckily he had his seatbelt on, that story along convinced me to keep my seat belt on no matter where or how slow I may be driving.

My great uncle was in his nineties and in good health when a car backed into him in a parking lot. He was screaming "STOP" the whole time but to no avail. He didn't survive the injuries.

Parking lots are an accident waiting to happen.

DB, it's always a good idea to wear your seat belt. Trust me..

Oh Venice that's horrible

Yaya, I'm not close to these relatives so I never found out what happened afterward. I know there was a lawsuit, but I have no idea what the outcome was. Now I'm always extremely careful when I walk behind a parked car in a parking lot. I never assume I can be seen or heard.

A man backed into me in a parking lot once as I was walking to my car. He was backing out of his spot when he hit me. He was going really slow, but it was enough to nearly knock me over. He didn't even apologize. He actually shot me a dirty look as I kept walking. I had a huge bruise on my leg for a few weeks

I do Unslated...I never put my car in drive without having my seatbelt on and no matter who is with me, they know they have to wear one too.
Posted by Venice09 on 2011-04-20:
I have to admit that I never wore my seatbelt. But then I saw a movie on television where a woman went through the windshield and what it did to her. I wish I could remember the name of the movie, but that's when I started wearing a belt. I would have started wearing it when I had kids, just to set an example, but it might have been too late by then.

I never walk close behind the parked cars. I always walk a little away from them as long as there are no cars coming up the asile...I have a habit of looking at the tail lights when I walk through parking lots and I taught my nieces at a young age to always look ahead at the tail lights and if they see a car with the tail lights on, that means they are going to back out and not to walk behind them.
Posted by Venice09 on 2011-04-20:
I taught my kids the same thing, DB.

Yaya, you should have gotten the plate number, if possible. How dare him give you a dirty look.
Posted by Anonymous on 2011-04-20:
Venice, my boyfriend said the same thing and said I should have called the police.
Posted by DebtorBasher on 2011-04-20:
YaYa, when you walk through parking lots, you really should wear a flag on your head so the drivers can see you walking behind them.

*gives Basher a dirty look*
Posted by DebtorBasher on 2011-04-20:
I only said that because I care about you.
Posted by Anonymous on 2011-04-20:
Aw thanks ;)
Posted by Venice09 on 2011-04-20:
Your boyfriend was right. Even if it truly was an accident, he should not have driven away.

One time I was headed to a bank to get some cash because teh restaurant I was going to for lunch did not accept checks. I was driving in one of the lanes when a car cutting across the lot got t-boned. Casa Grande PD investigated, and I was cleared of any wrong, but it was private property. What was bad about it was the driver was the daughter of a guy running against the sheriff. (chagrin) Shorty, if you were in pain and had a bruise, the police should have been called. even on private property, he left the scene of a personal injury accident, which, if my memory serves me, is a felony.
