English Rose Hotels Complaint - No respect for disabled people

Review by Icyairboi on 2011-04-25
SCARBOROUGH -- Although you may make special requests like a disabled room - this hotel chain in England takes no notice - the hotels are in bad repair - rooms are small and unsuitable for disabled people - avoid the chain called English Rose Hotels - they are certainly no rose ! No quality service here.

Just curious--when was this hotel built? I have traveled some in England and most of the hotels I have stayed in were built in the 1800's. Did the hotel advertise accommodation for the handicapped? I do not know if England has the same laws in regards to handicapped access that we do.

It is important to remember when traveling abroad, that other countries do not often offer the same laws and protections that we have here in the States. Your being a US citizen really doesn't mean beans to those in other countries. an old saying comes to mind, "Look before you leap."

Star, being a US citizen did not come up in the post.

I have noticed that the handicapped are well accommodated for in most countries I have visited--England being one of them. This particular hotel must have had some false advertising. A lot of the laws in other countries are more stringent than ours--and are actually enforced. This may be worth reporting if the op has the time and can locate the proper authorities to report this discrepancy.

Thank you, Icy, for the post. You may have saved someone else from having the problems you encountered.

It sounds like the English equivalent of Motel 6.
I don't have any plans (or wherewithal) to go to merry old England anytime soon but if I do, it won't be an English Rose.

Good review!
