Cricket Complaint - 56K Modems are better than this, no exaggerations.
As a student of an online highschool (odyssey) I need internet to be able to do my schoolwork. Being unable to afford a cable ISP I purchased Cricket as a last minute thing. Worst decision ever, I would rather have panhandled the money for a better connection than have to have dealt with Cricket.
I can't express enough how garbage the connection is, I literally can't. Early stages of dial up are better than this and I say this with no exaggeration!!! My burst speeds are 60Kb/s BURST SPEEDS!! On top of that my modem will go "idle" EVEN WHEN IT'S IN USE!!! After it becomes idle I GET BURST SPEEDS OF 600 BYTES PER SECOND!!!!!!!!!!!! BYTES! Not only is this insufficient for normal browsing I can't open a goddamn pdf without letting the god forsaken thing load overnight!!! Which I have had to do several times! Forget about youtube videos, I can't even load youtube. When I went back to the store I purchased it from I was told to contact customer service and was given an 800# After being given the runaround by a damn machine I finally got through to a person with an accent so thick I though I was in the middle east. When I explained the problem he told me (which I had to have him repeat several times) "Modem throttle no good speeds" After spending my afternoon deciphering what this meant I found out what I already knew: The modem gets throttled speeds after 5 GB of downloaded data. Not only have I not downloaded 5 GB of data but the modem has always been at this speed.
Even since I purchased it. Now this wouldn't be a problem if they'd give me a freakin refund, but no, it's not their policy. Even with the receipt and under 30 days I got denied a refund. Oh- and that rebate that comes with it? Don't waste your stamps.
