AAA Complaint - AAA said it is covered for dually pickup trucks but when the time came they said no to tow.
CARBONDALE, ILLINOIS -- We have been members for years at over 15 years, I know we had it in 1995, 3 years back when I first bought my pickup I called to make sure they cover dually pickups and was assured they did by the person that answered the phone at the local AAA. If it was just a dual wheel pickup truck, unloaded. I felt confident since on the AAA page it says they cover dual wheel pickup trucks unloaded, for all services except tire service, I read that today again 7 months later, on several AAA sights, but my local AAA has removed that part, when the time came I was denied a tow, until I got to a computer and brought to the attention it does say the will under vehicles towed and I called a tow company and told them what AAA had said, tow company said they are supposed to send someone out regardless to assess the situation they said they tow duallys for AAA all the time, and it cost the same. So AAA finally towed after I told them about the web page and the tow company said it does not take a special tow truck as AAA had told me, would have to be used, but AAA said they would never again tow period, that even though I was told by them it is and it says that on their page, that it is their policy, not to tow dual wheel trucks. I was going to ad RV and they said they would tow my camper not a regular trailer and would not tow my truck. I remember when we joined it said it covered the customer and not a vehicle unless it was a big truck like a U-haul etc: used to they covered the member now they just want your money for untrue ads and deny service. We have 2 other memberships now that do cover dually pickups and it covers anything I drive regardless to how big it is as long as it is not commercial. and this is the last year for AAA with us but we will use whatever AAA benefits we need and can get for all tows or help we need before we use the other company as much as possible.
