Dish Network Complaint - Horrible Return Process
EL PASO, TEXAS -- I consider myself a pretty easy-going person. Typically if I encounter a problem with a company I shrug it off and figure it's not worth the time to make a big deal about it.
NOW IS THE TIME TO MAKE A BIG DEAL ABOUT IT!
I had Dish Network through AT&T Bundle. I had no understanding that Dish Network was a completely different company that was just subcontracted through AT&T. In hindsite that makes sense, but whatever.
Spoke with an AT&T representative who convinced me to switch from Dish to Uverse. I was told that I would receive a box to return my equipment and the installer unhooked my old Dish receiver. 1 1/2 months later the box still hadn't arrived and I received 2 bills from Dish for services that I did not even have.
After contacting AT&T, then Dish, then AT&T, then Dish on the phone at the same time, we finally all figured out what was going on. Come to find out my Dish account was never cancelled! The Dish people said I was supposed to call them separately to cancel (AT&T never told me this and nowhere was this stated in my contract). They REFUSED to refund me the 1 1/2 months worth of charges for services I never received.
I was glad AT&T was still on the line because they agreed to take care of the charges sicne I originally got Dish through them.
You'd think that'd be all the problems, but then when I finally received the box, I realized that not only do they charge you $15 to return their equipment, they make you CLIMB ON YOUR ROOF TO REMOVE THE EQUIPMENT!! What?! And then they only take some of it back, they don't want the dish itself, cables, or antenna. What in the world am I supposed to do with this? Fortunately, my husband is more than able to do this work, but what if we were unable to shlep ourselves onto the roof and take care of it?
I truly have had the WORST experience of my life with Dish Network. Their customer service reps are cold, rude, and unwilling to work through any complaints, no matter how valid. I simply cannot believe they require their customers to take down their equipment and then charge you to send it back. I highly recommend avoiding this rip-off company at all costs.
That's it, my venting is done, and I will go back to letting situations like this role off my back now that I got this off my chest.
