Side by Side Refrigerator - Complaint
553 BENSON RD, MICHIGAN -- In late October 2009 approx. 18 months ago I purchased this refrigerator,
immediately I started to get cracks in all plastic components such as the vegetable bins, the shelves. The plastics were not overloaded or abused as it is just myself and wife residing here. The door handles constantly slide upwards off their pins, I just spoke to the customer service but they would not do anything about the junk they are putting on the market. They generously offered to replace the plastic vegetable bins with the same brittle plastics at a cost of $121.08 each and the shelf frame not including the glass inserts at a cost of $46.66 each. Just to replace all plastics is greater than the value of the refrigerator.
I discarded a better refrigerator than this one. AMANA is not the quality product they once were, Stay away from their products

It looks like Amana refrigerators is now owned by Whirlpool, which seems to be doing it's best to produce poor products. Take a moment to file a complaint at http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/consumer.shtm
