Enterprise Rent-A-Car Complaint - AVOID ENTERPRISE AT ALL COST!!!!
LYNBROOK, NEW YORK -- I rented a 2010 Dodge Caliber while my car was being repaired. When I first rented this car it was 7:00pm I was the last customer it was cold and raining, basically, I as well as the representative wanted to go home. We did a quick walk through of the car and I was on my way. The next morning I notice 2 scratches on the hood of the car, obviously these scratches were not noticed the night before. No biggie I think to myself they're well aware of those scratches. A week later I noticed in the backseat the person who previously rented the vehicle left their drivers license, 5 credit cards, 3 debit cards, car registration, insurance card, and social security card. I think to myself did Enterprise even check this car when it was returned to them, the couldn't have cause had they checked the car inside and out they would have seen all this important stuff left in the car. Fast forward another week I return the car get ready to sign off on the paperwork when the representative comes back to advise me that I would responsible for the 2 scratches on the hood of the car o_O excuse me?? Those scratches were already there. Now I'm too angry to even speak so my friend decides to start asking some questions. She asks the representative how they could determine which scratches I would be held responsible for, in other words, how am I responsible for the 2 scratches on the hood but not for another scratch that happened to also be on the hood. His reply was we know that those 2 weren't there...interesting. We also point out the fact that I found this woman's information so obviously the car was never checked. He had no reply to this point. Now lets fast forward a month. Enterprise sends me and estimate of damages and fees totaling $663.32. $447.60 in damages,$50 Administrative Fees, $120.96 Loss of Use 3 days, and $44.76 Diminishment of Value -_-. (I don't know how the car loses value if its being re-painted but I guess I don't know any better) Anyway, I look further into this estimate and notice charges for the removal and installation of the bumper, fender, side mirrors, gas nozzle, etc. You could only imagine my confusion as I was told that I was responsible for the 2 scratches on the hood but receive an estimate for the whole damn car. Now I've determined I'm not paying them a dime and I've made my insurance company well aware of this. If you have no choice but to rent from Enterprise, my advice check the WHOLE car top to bottom with a fine tooth comb. I don't care if its a knick, dent, or scratch point it out to the representative make them well aware. That's where I went wrong, I didn't pull my flashlight out to check for scratches you can only see during the day.
