Able and Ready Appliance Repair Complaint - Not Able, Not Ready, Avoid at All Cost

Review by David on 2011-05-07
YONKERS, NEW YORK -- Able & Ready comes to your house to repair appliances - charge a $80 "estimate fee" and in my case, decided that my Kitchenaid refrigerator needed a new water valve for the ice maker which wasn't working. Of course they didn't have it and had to order it.

They scheduled an appointment for several days later between 8AM and 12 PM, and promised to call that morning to narrow down the window when they'd appear. At 8:55 AM they called to say they'd be there between 9 and 12.

In fact they showed at 2:30 PM. The tech seemed competent, put in the new valve, charged a total of $241 for the part and labor and said it would be making ice within 24 hours.

It didn't.

No ice.

I called back and they said they couldn't come back for four days -promised that they'd show up Friday between 12 noon and 3 PM. At 2:55 PM I called to ask where they were. They said they "thought" the tech was on the way, and that if he hadn't arrived by 4 PM I should call back.

What they didn't tell me is that 4 PM they close. My call was routed to a voicemail box that was full.

They never showed up. They never called. And they don't work weekends.

Avoid these jerks at all cost. And if Kitchenaid recommends them to you, tell them they're unreliable and you want someone else.
Company Response on 05/03/2012:
Sorry your experience was not a postive one. Sometimes repairs don't go as we'd like. I believe your unit was finally repaired and any adjustments resulted in the unit working normally. We may have gotten out there later than you would have liked, sorry. But we are there, from start to finish. We also offer a warranty on all our work. We've serviced well over 15,000 customers and have had many satisfied clients that refer our service to others. If given the opportunity, we would be more than happy to service your appliance needs and prove we're there from start to finish. Our better and best regards.

Not only weren't they ready and able, but it doesn't sound like they were willing either. Fail!

we could not work against your service contract policy which is what you wanted us to do... we are ready and able to work within guidelines of mutual companies we work with, we cannot go against that policy to service a client that's not willing to work within their insurance guidelines, which is what happened here. as a company owner yourself I'm sure you can appreciate this.
