TGI Fridays Compliment - TGI Friday's at the Waterfront-Excellent Lunch - Food

Food - Compliment
Review by Alain on 2011-05-10
HOMESTEAD, PENNSYLVANIA -- My wife took me out to TGIF's yesterday for a birthday lunch since we'd had good service and food there for dinners before. We decided on lunch since it can get a bit crowded in the evenings. There was no waiting for a booth since 2 PM on a Monday is a pretty quiet time down there. My wife had the Jack Daniels Burger and I got the Southwest Burger. Both were done (well done & medium, as requested) perfectly and the fries were nice and hot. The fried green bean appetizer was hot and tasty, as well. The serving was ample with no skimping on the toppings. Krystial was our pleasant young waitress and she was very good, too. She got our order to us promptly and checked on us frequently, but not to the extent that she was intrusive. The total bill was $31.85, which was lowered to $21.85 since my wife had a $10 coupon (from a third party vendor-she'd done a survey of some sort to receive it). It was well worth the price and Krystial deserved and got a 20% tip. Our compliments to General Manager Phil Sero and his employees. We enjoyed the food and service. We'll be keeping this TGIF's on our list of restaurants to return to. Good food and good service will always get our repeat business!

Happy Birthday, Alain! I'm glad you enjoyed your birthday lunch. Sounds like everything was just right!

Thanks, Venice. It was except for the extra year added on. Maybe I should have a midlife crisis and go out and buy a '65 1/2 Mustang like I've always wanted!

Oh, no no no.. if anyone is getting a '65 1/2 Mustang, it's ME! I'm older than you, so I get one first! You'll have to wait your turn. ;)

Good review. Sound like you had a great time! Happy Birthday, Alain. Gotta order a burger medium (at least), and it's a crap shoot to see if they cook it properly. Nice to see they did it right.

What water does this place front?

Gotta order a burger medium at least? I hope you aren't preaching to others. I eat mine medium rare, the way I have for 45 years. TGIF makes them medium rare also. If they had to make them medium, "at least," they wouldn't do that.

TGIF can be great, and it can be not. I was a regular there for 2 years, going 1-2 times a week. Then management changed, and the place went downhill with a month, noted in the food preparation (the servers were the same). My takeaway is management can make a big difference.

Great review!

Trmn8r, for the record, I prefer medium-rare. I find that it's difficult for chain restaurants to cook to my preference (sort of like when I order eggs over medium). I probably would have been OK with getting a medium.

I always order my burgers medium because I find that most places undercook their burgers. So medium usually comes out to what I consider medium rare, which is really how I like it. It could also be that I don't know what medium rare is and what I really like is medium.

Regardless, now I want a burger.

Momsey, my experience is the opposite. Usually, my stuff is overcooked.

Then again, I don't eat out all that often, so it's a limited experience.

Happy bday alain, I not been to a TGI Fridays in years. I might try them again.

Yum, sounds good. Nice review! Happy birthday, Alain.

I like my burgers medium rare, but we grill them at home Bobby Flay style. Quite a few restaurants around here will not cook burgers medium rare.

Hey where's Alain's cake, Basher? I could really go for something sweet right now

Thank you for the birthday wishes and comments! I was the one who ordered the burger medium. It was close to medium rare, but it was really juicy and tasty so I was happy. My wife had the well done. She'd never have known if it wasn't since she slathered it with Jack Daniels sauce (they had it on the side, too, so I used it on my fries). It was a nice munch!

Happy Birthday! I'm just curious to know why you want a 65 1/2 and not a 64 1/2 Mustang? My first boyfriend had one and it was a cute little car, but not enough room in the back seat ;)

Biomajor, after posting my comment about the Mustang, I realized that I meant to say 64-1/2. I always make that mistake because I wanted the '94 Mustang anniversary edition, but had to settle for a '95. I think Alain probably meant to say 64, too. I didn't think anyone would notice the mistake. ;)
