Clinique Counter At Belk's Complaint - Intimidation Practices
BEAUFORT, SOUTH CAROLINA -- I made an appointment for a makeup consultation wanting to find new foundation and make some other changes to my makeup. The clerk immediately tried selling me skin care products. When I resisted by saying I was there for makeup only, she suggested I had dangerously dry skin and may even have roseola. She said I needed special skin care products. When I kept resisting, she said I was hostile, difficult and wasting her time! I asked for her name, but she wouldn't give it and wasn't wearing a name tag. I asked for the manager, but she refused to call her until I said I'd find her myself. I got no particular help from the Belk's cosmetic manager and walked out furious. I felt as a woman over 50 that this young clerk was trying to intimidate me into purchasing products, that she saw a senior citizen who could be made insecure and would eagerly spend money on Clinique. I've never had such a horrible experience in a dept. store.
