Regions Bank Complaint - Regions : Thieves X 10 - overdraft charges/ fees

overdraft charges/ fees - Complaint
Review by 1chinadoll on 2011-05-17
I have been banking with AmSouth and Regions for over fifteen years. I have enjoyed the overdraft element of my checking account with them until recently when I ordered multiple items from online sources (Amazon, etc.) and was charged $36 per item for one order. For example, one recent order was for ten $6 books from different vendors (Amazon) with a final total at the end for my order. I did know I was using the overdraft feature, but was not charged for the one total amount, but for all ten individual books for $360! When I called to discuss the matter and to ask the customer service representative to lower the fee he refused. I think that this practice of stacking individual items has got to be illegal and I am sick about racking up so much in fees for such a simple transaction. -Disgusted in Tampa

Sorry to hear this happened to you, but the problem really isn't with the bank. They don't take a request for payment and break it into 10 seperate requests so that they can charge you 10 late fees. The reason it was done that way was you ordered 10 books from different vendors, so when Amazon charges you they only charge you when the vendor actually ships the book. If you want the charge to only appear as one charge, you need to order them all from the same vendor on Amazon and select ship all my items at once instead of, ship the items as they are available.

I've ordered several items from amazon in one order and they have done this exact same thing to me also. I don't like it cause it messes up my checking register when they do it separately, I have it annotated only once in there.
