All About Irrigation in Flowery Branch, GA Complaint - Did not honor estimate

Review by regorfel on 2011-05-20
FLOWERY BRANCH,, GEORGIA -- We called "All About Irrigation in Flowery Branch, GA. for an estimate for a repair of our irrigation system. We were told it would be $75 for service call and $75 an hour for one man or $85 an hour for two men. We agreed. On May 18, 2011, they showed up to make the repairs. The first man showed the other one where to dig and then left. He returned 1/2 hour later and made the pipe repair. They were here one hour and 10 minutes in total, that included my writing the check and the boss taking three phone calls. According to the estimate the bill should be $160+ parts. They charged $75 for service call, $170 labor($85/hr for each man!)and $15 parts for a total of $260. When I questioned the bill, he said, "Hey man, we could have drug this job out all day". He did deduct $20 due to my protest, for a total of $240---still $65 more than it should be.

They made the repair as I ask, but they for one thing must thing I am stupid. $75 for an hour is fair and $85 for two men, but not each and excepily when one is a college student. I would be surprised if he was paid over $10.
Company Response on 10/06/2011:
We have been in business for fifteen years and customer service is our number one priority. We gladly offer free estimates on new installation but for repairs we come prepared to do the job. However; some people try to put us in the same category with those who are the cheapest in town. We are not the cheapest but are a full service company offering 24 hour emergency service and over 25 years of experience in the industry. We appreciate the opportunity to refute the comments but there is always two sides to every story and unfortunately all facts aren't exposed here. But if this gentleman has a problem with his repair, we WILL be around to provide his warranty, parts & labor on us. Give us a call today should you have a concern, we will be happy to speak with you personally.

Did you have a written estimate for this project?

Did you have a contract that shows you would be paying the prices you were told?

Verbal agreements should always be followed by something in writing.

I totally agree with you. This company is a rip off. It is such a shame that you can't trust people these days. Their website says free estimates but they charge $75. Must plan on making money on estimates because don't know how they'd get any jobs if people get more than one price.
