J & R Complaint - Worst Return Policy Ever
5421 MASPETH, NEW YORK -- I ordered a laptop on 4/29 and 2 days later it was backordered. When I called to ask them when the product would arrive, they initially said they didn't know so I kept the order in case I found something better. A week later, I got another backordered notice so I called asking them again when I would get the order. They said not until 5/16 so I bought something else on Craigslist.
To my surprise, on 5/12, I got a shipping notice before I can call to cancel.
It came in the manufacturer box wrapped in thin plastic. There was no outer box and by the time I got it, the plastic was already tearing.
I called for my RA #. Can I return it in store? No. The only store is in New York.
Ok...Is there a return shipping label? No. You have to ship it back UPS GROUND ONLY. INSURED.
Can I just put the label back on the original package? No. You must have an "outer box". "BUt it didn't come in an outer box." "You need an outer box or we won't take it."
1 OUTER BOX PURCHASE at $2.95, UPS GROUND at $14, INSURANCE at $5, I was out almost $20 trying to return something they shouldn't have sent me in the first place.
Oh and they HINTED at a restocking fee that they won't name. So I'm out somewhere in the ballpark of $50-$100.
