Federal Express Corporation Complaint - FedEx isn't as good as UPS - Product on truck but not delivered

Product on truck but not delivered - Complaint
Review by kaptnsmooth on 2011-05-22
Friday my package was scheduled for delivery and was placed on truck at the local hub. At the end of day I received nothing. I tracked and found and exception notice, stating the package was placed on truck but no attempt was made to deliver. My package was scheduled to be delivered Friday, it was placed on delivery truck Friday, but no package!!! Why is this? UPS never has had this problem! Seems very unprofessional due to fact I did not receive any notice either by phone or email!! When you stay at home and expect a package on the day it states it will be there, then I think someone should be held accountable! We take time away from work and other things just so we will be there to receive this package that by their own schedule states it will be delivered! I guess I have to agree with last post and I suggest to all who read this....SHIP UPS!!!

I've always had good luck with FedX, but have had issues with UPS. Go figure, right.

Did they ever tell what the exception was?

There are complaints about both companies, and UPS has its share of exceptions and nondeliveries. Nobody's perfect. I've used both and had minimal problems with each.

What if the truck broke down? In that case they wouldn't be able to deliver the rest of the packages on that day. Have you called for a more detailed explanation?

No delivery company I know of contacts you if an exception arises. There may be an optional service you can pay for to get that.

I am sick of both UPS and Fedex. I find USPS to be cheaper and much more reliable. I use Priority Mail for almost everything these days.

bluediamond - not for heavy packages. USPS is good for small, lighter items, UPS for larger, heavier ones. In fact, USPS package processing equipment ~drops~ packages from 6 foot heights, according to my postmaster.

And if you are shipping something that is 10, 15, 20 pounds, IME USPS will soak you compared with UPS. Think about it - UPS sends large trucks around, USPS much smaller ones. It's a matter of choosing the best option for your needs.

trmn8r, using usps priority flat is much cheaper than UPS and fedex . Anything up to 70lbs that fits in a large flat rate box is around $15 to ship! Obviously the large flat rate box isn't actually a large box but then again, at least where I live, the mail trucks are pretty small and can't handle large boxes like UPS & fedex.
