David's Bridal Complaint - Poor Customer Service - Dress Shopping

Dress Shopping - Complaint
Review by rosarymb on 2011-05-23
SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA -- As a new customer I am very unpleased. On 4/2/11 my sisters and I decided to go to Davids Bridal to look at wedding gowns. Your company advertise on commercials and magazines, etc so I wanted to check it out. As soon as we walked in we were greeted badly by a young blonde lady, the first thing that came out of her mouth "You won't be able try anything on, we are booked", which I thought was rude. I did ask if we can look around. After 25mins in the store I found a few dresses that I fell in love with. After 25mins we were greeted by a young lady by the name of Stephanie who was VERY HELPFUL and found us a room to try on the dresses. I finally found a dress, ordered it. When I picked up my dress brought it home and realized there was a hole on the bottom, loose strings and loose beading. I took the dress back the next day. Your advertisements are appealing but your customer service is not! Will not recommend Davids Brdial!!!

Sounds like David's Bridal. Did they allow you to return the damaged dress?

If you want quality wedding gowns, David's is not the place to go. By the way, congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

I had the same experience the only time I went into David's Bridal, although they didn't allow me to even look at any gowns. I was glad for that experience because I looked into small shops and got great service and much better looking dresses for not much more money than David's charges.

I will never set foot in David's Bridal after they screwed up my bridesmaid's dress last year. They are horrible and offer overpriced merchandise

Yaya, I hope you burned that dress lol

I still have it, wally

It sounds like not only is the customer service "sub par," but the quality of merchandise blows chow.

This is not the first time I've heard not so good things about David's bridals. My niece is getting married next year and we've already decided she will not be going there for her dress.
We will be going to smaller locally owned shops.

Very wise decision Paula. I never even considered David's when I was getting married. I bought my dress from a very well known shop in Denver.

The last thing a bride needs is bad treatment while trying to find the perfect wedding dress.

I do have to take exception to one thing. Most bridal shops require an appointment so they can spend the time you deserve picking out the dress for your special day. It is nice that someone was able to help you. I think it's possible to have a bad experience at any bridal store if you walk in without an appointment--especially on a Saturday.

My DIL found a beautiful designer gown at David's Bridal. She couldn't have been happier. Apparently, this must be one of the only successful trips to the store in history.

sing, I can only speak for my own experience, but it wasn't the fact that I needed an appt that turned me off, it was how I was told that I needed an appt that turned me off. I was newly engaged and had no idea how things like that worked. David's markets itself as a retail store, really, and I (and others, apparently) thought you could just walk in. It's ok that I couldn't, but I was not told in a way that made me want to go back.

Momsey, I'm thinking it probably has a lot to do with management at any of the particular stores. I am sure people can have different experiences depending on the csr's--but that would go for any chain.

Momsey** I agree with you. Its not the way to treat customers especially when they (us) keep them in business

Sing, that's how I feel, too. It depends on the location, just as with any other chain. My daughter and I had a great experience at David's Bridal. I even wrote a review about it. She didn't buy a dress there, but the employees were friendly, professional and very helpful even though we made it clear that we were not buying a dress that day. My daughter tried on dresses for at least two hours, and the attendant was very patient and professional.
