Toyota Motor Corp Complaint - Transmission Issue - Toyota Camry

Review by b52y33st791 on 2011-05-25
Just purchased new Camry April 24 2011. Transmission has issue downshifting around 35mph and 20mph and at time make loud noise as it slips into lower gear.

It seems it does not want to come out/down into lower gears and has to snap itself out as it downshifts thus creating a very non smooth sensation and at time a loud thump.

Have you brought it to the dealer to be looked at? That would be my first step.

What are you hoping to achieve by posting this complaint her, and not contacting the dealer?

trmn8r- Companies often visit sites like this and contact consumers directly to offer assistance. I was contacted by GE in the past after posting a review.

First stop - dealership. Take the technician out with you and demonstrate the problem and MAKE SURE it's fixed before you leave !

The point of posting this here is to let others know of a problem. I would hope the OP has let the dealership know. If everyone just went to the source of their problem and didn't post it here, this website wouldn't exist.

OK, I'm convinced. When I make a very large purchase in the future, and there's a problem within the first month and I have a warranty, I'll first go to a third party to get a resolution. Sounds like best practice, and I don't know how I missed it the first time.

Just because someone comes here and writes about their experience doesn't mean they didn't do what they were supposed to do (i.e. go to the dealership) I think the OP is just saying warning others about this car, not that they are too stupid to realize that they need to tell the car dealer they bought it from. This website is to inform other people.
