SamAsh.com Buyer beware of seconds Complaint - Sam Ash Music - Buyer beware!!!

7726 CHERI CT, TAMPA, FL -- Well, after not haveing success with two other internet merchants with pricing, I decided to trust SamAsh.com (Sam Ash Music, Tampa FL) and ordered an Epiphone Les Paul Custom. Admittedly this is a guitar made in China, but so is my son's Epiphone Les Paul 100, a much cheaper model. The EPI Custom came in with several severe flaws, including a large dent (thumb size) behind the 10th fret, which had been painted over. So They agreed to take it back. They then talked me into spending $170.00 more for an Epiphone 1960 50th Anniversary Lespaul, assuring me this guitar was the highest grade guitar from Epiphone. (remember my son's Epi Les Paul above? It cost $279.00 - not $800.00 - and is flawless).

So, I get the second, $800,00 Les Paul from SamAsh.com, and low and behold, there's a noticeable dent sanded into the neck again, below the secon fret, and yes it's finished over. There's also a place in the finish near the bridge that should never have left the factory. The tuners are also mounted way crooked, and the case came in damaged on the "inside". It left the factory as an obvious "second". So. I work with SamAsh for about 5 weeks to try to at least get a new case that isn't falling apart. I was given the run-around about my salesman being out on medical leave, then was told to work with Gibson to try to get a new case. Total "hands off Customer Service" or lack of Customer Service I should say.

So today, I decided I will send the whole thing back to SamAsh and will take my own advice and stop buying anything sight-unseen from online music stores. Guys - don't spend a dime with this ripoff company. Peace.

Thanks for sharing. I hope you don't have any issues with the return.

I appreciate that, Nicole29. It cost me $56.00 at UPS to have boxed and shipped, but that's better than accpting factory seconds at full retail cost. It's more about principle. There are plenty of guitars to be had.

Have you contacted Gibson about this, to see if you could be getting factory seconds from a retailer at full price? Seems they would be concerned if true.
