Arizona Tenants Advocates Informative - Break Lease Program

PHOENIX, ARIZONA -- I found the services for which I paid a great deal of money ineffective. They did not deliver the promised effect. After all the documents and "help" They gave me I still had to spend more money on an attoryney to basically start over and get myself out of a lease in a bad apartment builing. So before you go with a program like this I would just call them for a referral to an attorney who will negotiate a settlement for you. I counld have saved myself 500 dollars if I had just called an attorney in the first place.

This complaint is bogus, probably from a landlord or someone trying to compete, or someone else with an unfounded grudge (e.g. a tenant who did not follow our explicit instructions). I can tell you exactly how I reached this conclusion: Our contract provides a guarantee that we will underwrite several hours of attorney time to defend a tenant whose lease termination is legally challenged by a landlord, and we provide a similar guarantee (double the number of hours) about protectiong credit reports. So, if the bogus tenant actually had experienced a problem, he or she would not have had to hire an attorney, but would have used one of ours on our nickel. With substantially over 2,000 cases over the years, we have lost maybe 15 cases that did go to court. That's a amazingly small percentage, and I would any day match that against an anonymous gripe. Oh, by the way, as I was writing this on 2/20/08 a tenant called to sign up -- he was referred by an attorney!
