General Electric Company Complaint - WHRE5550K2WW 4.1 High Efficiency Top Load Washer
LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY -- We purchased this washer from Home Depot on 02/04/10 along with a 4 year extended warranty.
On 3/2/10 the washer makes a terrible noise and the machine starts jumping away from the wall during the wash cycle spin and again in the rinse cycle spin.
On 3/4/10 a GE Technician found no problem, stating if it happens again to check for un-balanced load. It could also be a water level problem.
On 3/12/10 another GE Techician gave a second opinion with no problem found. He stated it was un-balanced load causing the problem.
When trying to wash 2 pair jeans, 2 sweatshirts, 2 bath towels using the super capacity setting the machine usually goes crazy, trying to walk away from the place it sits. The only solution is to wash 2 loads! The same problem (and solution) happens when trying to wash a set of sheets and 2 towels.
Today, as it usually happens once or twice a week, the machine went nuts when washing a normal load of clothes with a super capacity setting (trying to put more water into the unit). Had the dryer not stopped it, the washer would have turned 90 degrees as it kept running.
We have had no good comments about this unit. GE claims it's an un-balanced load causing the problem .... yes, I guess it is, but why isn't there an un-blanced shut-off built into the unit.
We have had washers for over 55 years and never had this sort of problem.
There is no need to call GE about the problem .. we've had the same answer twice .. Un-blanced load!
