Dish Network Complaint - Before you cancel, read this!
ANYTOWN -- My Issue: Placed my service on Pause during my promotion after being assured that the promotion would resume when I took the account off of pause. That's not the case.
I canceled my Dish Service while on the phone and failed to get the frightening amount that they were going to charge me for early termination. I thought I could go to the Bank/Credit Card company and have them stop payment.
BEFORE YOU CANCEL SERVICE, get the amount that they intend to charge you and the card number they have on file (Make sure they don't have others. They lied to me!). Hang up and call your credit card company. They need the exact amount and at least a day lead time to implement the stop order. If not placed ahead of time, Dish Network will get their funds and your only recourse is to submit a fraudulent claim with the credit card company.
After a days time is allowed to implement the Stop order, call Dish Network and cancel away.
After having service with Comcast, Dish Network and DirectTV, I'm convinced that, like the cell phone companies, none are better than the other. They all will get as much money out of you as the can. Cable has the advantage of not having to sign a contract. I will not use Dish or DTV again. No matter how well you read the contract or what the supervisor on the phone says, they WILL take advantage of you. None of these folks care about keeping you; only keeping your money.
