Stopzilla Complaint - Money fraud - cleaning computer

Review by allancamp578 on 2011-06-03
On May 06 2011 I contacted stopzilla to clean up some problems on my computer, I was contacted by someone from India who was to guide me through the clean up. The mans voice kept fading out and when I complained that I often could not hear him he suddenly became very loud and very rude. Eventually he said everything was fixed and we hung up the phone. On May 07 2001 I checked my computer and found it still had the origional problems so I contacted stopzilla and a very polite man talked me through the repair. I agreed to pay for their service for one year. To-day I checked my Royal bank Visa statement and discovored a charge of $148.87 on May 06 2011 and a second charge of $ 168.78. This is a total scam. What can be done to return this theft?
Company Response on 07/02/2013:
I am sorry to hear that you have had this experience. Unfortunately, many companies are misrepresenting themselves as STOPzilla even though they are not. All official STOPzilla representatives are located in Boca Raton, FL, and our official support phone numbers are listed at http://www.stopzilla.com/support/. The next time you get a call from someone in India claiming to be us, ask them for their name and phone number to call them back. I can guarantee you they do not work for us.

STOPzilla has been relentless in improving the quality of our software, and in the last 2 years we have earned excellent marks from independent groups like West Coast Labs and OPSWAT for the detection rate of our product.

As a trial customer in need of technical support, please give us a call at 1-877-877-9944, and we will be happy to help you.

Again, I apologize that you had a bad experience, and we hate to lose you as a customer. If there is anything we can do to keep you protected, feel free to call on us at 1-888-522-2005.

I don't think shopzilla is the actual provider here. isn't shopzilla a comparison shopping web site? that is they present offers from all over the net and show the best prices for a item or service? your beef is really with whoever you picked from shopzillas recommendations. you need to call whoever you chose from the site and ask for your money back. if they won't do that, then contact your back and do a fraud investigation on the amount and you should get the money back then. but I think you should first start with the provider you picked off of the site and see what they can do.

Stopzilla is a software that blocks pop up ads. Get rid of the program and use your browsers built-in ad blockers.

Stopzilla is a scam. They take people who have actual malware and say they will help. What they do is offer to FIX your computer for some stupid amount, explaining that microsoft will charge more. And if you don't do it soon your computer will crash. Well if you go to microsoft they have a program that will remove the original.

I had stopzilla. It wasn't working. I called they told me amazing stories and charged $198. for 1 year.
