NCO Financial Systems Complaint - Fraud & Harassment
BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS -- I had an Associates' Credit back a few years. I guess Citibank took them over. I fell behind in payments, as well as my other debts due to my fiancee' moving out and leaving me with a lot of bills and splitting the household income in half. NCO called my house and my work constantly. They left embarassing messages on my voicemail in work that anyone filling in for me could hear. I finally called & made a settlement agreement with them. The man said if I agreed to let them automatically deduct from my checking acct every month, they would settle for a certain amount. I gave him check numbers and we did that for over a year, final payment being in July, 2002. NEver heard from them since. I recently have been in a position to pay off all my debts and am now debt free. I then began shortly after, receiving collection letters from a Financial Services Inc. who claimed they worked for NCO. I stated I paid this a long time ago. They said "prove it!" They said get all the cancelled checks and prove it. Well, at $25 a pop over a year's worth of checks, I wasn't about to do that. I then called NCO and asked them what the story was. Spoke with a Mike Vogle. He said he can see by my records I am paid and sent me a faxed letter stating to so to send to Financial Services. (why I had to do this if they worked for NCO is beyond me). I then faxed the letter. I heard nothing from them and still got collection letters. I just ignored them until I received an updated credit report and it had NCO on it stating that this was a valid debt and I was delinquent. I had just sent away for all 3 credit reports in April...and they were not on any of them at that time. I called Vogle again. Told him I think you saw I paid off all my debts and think you can come after me for over and above the already paid settlement. He stated no..you are paid..let me talk to my general manager and see what's going on. Promised he'd call me back in 15 minutes. Well, it's been two weeks and now after all the trouble I went through to fix my credit and paying off all my debts, NCO is on there. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and Atty General's office of Okalahome. I'm awaiting their response. But I'm dissapointed to see all the complaints that have been filed against them so far (even with the BBB) and nothing has been done to shut these people down. I'm wondering if anything will ever be done.
