NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA -- I have 3 cars insured to AAA. I wanted to cancel one car because I'm not the driver of the car and the driver decided to have it insured somewhere else due to high insurance cost. I've called them back in September to have it canceled and they sent me a consent form to fax back to them. I faxed it over and mailed it over. I then received a letter in the mail for a high amount due for 3 cars. I called them back to tell them that I had canceled one car. Again, we went through the process of faxing, signing and refaxing. For the 3rd time... on the 3rd month, they're once again asking for a high payment.

I then called them again and waited a long time on the phone as always. And lo and behold!!! They still haven't taken the car off the list!!! I am currently waiting for them to fax over the form... for the 4th time!!!! They are just so ridiculous!!! Each person tells a different story there. One person was supposed to notate on their system bout my call but when I called back it doesn't show in their system at all. WHAT is going on? It's so hard to get through and each attendant has a different story. It's just giving me stress!!!

AAA-Horrible Customer Service

CALIFORNIA -- I went to purchase a new car today. I had received a quote from AAA on Friday - everything was set. All I had to do was go pick up my new car, call in the credit card number and get a policy number so the dealer could finalize everything. The AAA agent I dealt with was not there, so I got another - Ramon. Ramon proceeds to run everything all over from the start, claiming he can get me a better rate if I can give him my D.L. from the state I used to live in 4 years ago.

Why would I still have this? I wouldn't because DMV is required to destroy your old license. I tell him this. He keeps working on the better deal, ignoring me. I told him - 5 TIMES - I do not want anything more, all the work was done Friday, please take my card and give me the policy number for the dealer, he's wasting everyone's time.

He kept working on the better rate. I told him to get a manager. He puts me on eternal hold. I hung up and called Progressive - whose agent had started from scratch at a moment's notice and I was off the phone in 3 minutes. Before I even made it across the showroom floor to sign the final papers, the faxed policy was in their hands. AAA lost 2 customers today - myself and my sister who heard everything that was going on. She went home and cancelled her policy. Avoid them at ALL COSTS. (I did have previous experiences with their idiot agents before today. Today was the last straw.)

FORT MYERS, FLORIDA -- We were on our way from Tenn to Columbus Ga and then to Atlanta for a Dr.'s appt. that had been set up for weeks. The transmission started leaking. We got on into Columbus to the repair shop and had to rent a car to go on to Atlanta. Because we reached one of our "destinations" (Columbus) AAA will not pay for the car rental to go on to Atlanta. Even though our purpose in being in GA at the time was to go to the doctor's appt. in Atlanta! I even called before we rented the car to ensure it would be covered. WHAT A JOKE!! I guess I should have lied to them and told them it didn't start leaking until we were in Columbus.

I wouldn't have done that, I don't believe in it, but I guess it's the only way you can get the coverage you pay for. I think I'll call back and tell them I want a copy of the 'policy' in writing. I may even contact my attorney just on principle.

Caught Stealing

POWAY, CALIFORNIA -- Someone broke into my truck. Call claims and she suggest that replacing the window will not reach the deductible. I explain that there is more than just the window. Appraiser comes out. We agree and he is very nice. Adjuster calls and sends a check for just under $700. When I go to repair, the parts are a lot more than I expected.

I then ask the adjuster to send a copy of the appraisal. She sends the appraisal with a price closer to a thousand dollars. Without explanation the adjuster sends the almost $300 balance. There is no explanation of how the math error occurred. How is it possible that the adjuster cannot read the appraisal and copy that amount onto a check? I say this: If I walk into a store and steal a candy bar, they will charge you with petty theft. Do it again and it is a felony. But if AAA gets caught stealing $300 it is an error. I really wish someone could give me some other explanation.

MADERA, CALIFORNIA -- I've been trying to get a claim resolved with American Modern Insurance for water damage back in February. I purchased this insurance through AAA, which is affiliated with American Modern for mobile home insurance, maybe broker is a better word. Anyway, I found American Modern very hard to deal with and wanted to caution others about buying insurance through AAA.

Be sure you know what company you will actually be insured and dealing within the event of a problem. Madera Ca has to be one the worst cities in California for uninsured motorists, being in two accidents in the 20 years, both times rear ended at traffic lights in Madera. Once by an uninsured, unlicensed driver and the second recently by a hit and run driver.

From what I gathered from my conversation with the police officer, it's a pretty common occurrence that either one or more of the parties involved, doesn't have a drivers license, insurance or both. I didn't know was that since I didn't get the license number of the vehicle that hit and run my truck, that AAA would not waive my $500 deductible under my uninsured motorist policy. Something to consider when choosing your deductible. Hoping 2013 is a better year.

Ridiculous fees!

MADISON, WISCONSIN -- I used AAA's online bill pay to pay my auto insurance bill 3 weeks before the due date. 2 days after the due date I was surprised to find a notice in the mail for the same bill. Apparently I typed in a wrong number on the account information I provided for paying my bill. So not only did I have to pay my bill again, but I had to pay an additional $20 fee. I originally thought it was a late fee and called to see if I could get it removed since I paid my bill well in advance but they failed to notice me until after the due date.

Apparently the fee was simply because there was a returned bank notice. Not because there were insufficient funds in my account or anything like that but simply because I had a typo when entering in my account information. That is the most ridiculous fee I have ever heard of!

Horrible Claim Service

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS -- My car was hit very bad as I was visiting my son away at college as was 4 other cars. Called the police to make a report and they showed up and filed the reports for everyone else that was hit. I got a ride back to San Antonio and filed the claim. Took 5 days for a adjuster to even come and look at the car and that's only because I called him personally and told him, after that then all of a sudden I am under investigation and so is my son, the investigators are hanging out at his apartment and asking him questions even though this had nothing to do with him.

Now AAA has contacted the police department there and they are calling me and questioning me and stating AAA will prosecute me if they find out I'm filing a false claim, also now they are asking for my son and my phone records. Oh by the way this is a 1994 Toyota Camry... so now it has been a month and I have been having to borrow a vehicle from my sister, so now I am going to pay the $1000 to fix the car and definitely cancel this horrible insurance and move to Geico who has been so nice about the situation. I feel they have paid these investigators and police more than it would be if they just gave me the money to fix it.

Rip Off Auto Insurance

LADERA RANCH, CALIFORNIA -- After 21 years with AAA auto insurance my wife and I found out we kept getting robbed even without tickets or accidents. Our rates kept going up and up. After shopping we found out we could get better coverage from several other insurances with a savings of over $450 per year. After being advised by the AAA agent we were paid through certain date we canceled AAA and got Farmers with better coverage.

The rip off artists from AAA keep sending bills for extra coverage we did not authorize and claim we have to send our cancellation in writing and to show proof of Farmers coverage. I advised the AAA agent a month before canceling, AAA has agents that are nasty and rude in resolving this matter. Do Not Buy AAA Insurance. They will RIP you Off. Take your money and give inferior service.

I got busy and did not check to see if he did his work, and now I am Still paying for his lack of work ethic. I HAVE NEVER HAD AN INSURANCE COMPANY THAT COST ME SO MUCH IN DISTRESS, MONEY AND TIME. DO NOT USE AAA.

AAA hung me out to dry

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CALIFORNIA -- When I signed up with AAA I had to pay a deposit enough to cover me for 3 months should I decide to cancel or whatever, who knows. Anyway I was late making an installment by two maybe three weeks at the most and I ended up totaling my BMW. I made two calls immediately thereafter. The first was to state law enforcement, since it happened on the highway and the second call went to AAA, to make my payment, which they took no problemo. I then was transferred to the claims dept. Later that day I received a call back from the claims representative telling me I wasn't covered and that they weren't going to pay on my claim.

I almost threw up as I was pleading with them for help. The only thing I was told was that I was appreciated for my 27 years of service with them. Not only did they not help me but I had to pay $300 for having my car towed away because I didn't use the AAA roadside service, thinking I was covered for accidental. Now almost a year later, to add insult to injury, a collections agency is calling me, saying I am being charged for coverage that AAA told me I didn't have at the time of the accident. In short, I didn't pay, they didn't cover, but are charging me for coverage they say I didn't have. DOES ANY ONE WANT TO JOIN ME ON A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT?
