Canon Digital Camera

EVANSTON, ILLINOIS -- I bought a Canon digital camera from Best Buy (store 313 in Evanston) with a 4-year warranty on 12/09/06. The camera didn't power up. I took it back the next day for an exchange and found that the camera they sold me didn't match the serial number on the sales receipt (the serial number on the factory was yet another non-matching number). The store manager ** examined the camera and concluded "this camera was not bought yesterday."

If so, then Best Buy sold me a used, probably returned camera as new, and now refuse to exchange it or honor the warranty. I am out $350 bucks with a broken camera and no recourse! I believe that Best Buy is engaged in a criminal conspiracy to defraud its customers. And what happened to me is a perfect scam - a money-making machine. Corporate complaints "can do nothing. This is a store issue." Buy only from a small local retailer whom you know and trust.

NEWPORT, CALIFORNIA -- Best Buy was rude and incorporate. My camera didn't work anymore and they couldn't replace it nor fix it. So they offered me to send it to the manufacturer to let them fix it. It should take about 2-3 weeks, but it would have been only around about 1 week. Best Buy can't send it back to Germany, where I come from, neither can't send it faster. For this one case they weren't flexible or nice to me. I wouldn't recommend Best Buy to anybody!

Not a Best Buy

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, FLORIDA -- Best Buy? Not. I purchased a camera in Best Buy on special thinking that got a good deal. Then went to Costco to do grocery shopping. The same exact camera was on sale for $165 - less than what I paid in Best Buy.

Warranty

ATLANTA, GEORGIA -- I purchased a digital camera from Best Buy over 3 years ago, and I also purchased a 4 years PSP warranty. The camera no longer works. Best Buy won't honor the warranty, saying the camera has internal corrosion. However, if so, it was not caused by me. I don't understand how a warranty can cover heat, humidity, and dust and not cover corrosion. When I purchased the camera and PSP warranty, I was told that if the camera stop working for any reason, that it would be either repaired or replaced, and that is what I expect.

VERMONT -- Do Not shop at Best Buy - I returned a camera I received as a Christmas Gift and was charged a $50 restocking fee.
