Worse Insurance Company Ever! They Need To Be Closed.

NORTH CAROLINA -- I recently was hit on the highway by a driver who didn't see me merging over into the next lane in my passenger. HOWEVER I was in my mom's vehicle which mom never drives because she works in Kansas. (We both explained this to them). Now previously from the prior accident I was in they stated they would not pay for the car because I was at fault and not insured on my mom's policy (understandable) but they did not want to pay for the other car's damage either. I literally had to get a lawyer just to get them to agree to pay for the other's people damages!

Fast forward two months later they dodged every phone call from me and my mom. I called corporate. They had no suggestions besides “leave a voicemail”. We continued to leave voicemails. No returned calls for almost 6 wks. Spoke to a “Julia **” who did my claim and flipped my words around stating I said I turned from the LEFT TURNING TO MAKE A RIGHT INTO A GAS STATION. WTF. No pulled camera. No REAL proof that the man who hit me clearly lied to get out of his insurance paying!

She then proceeded to say “you aren't on the coverage” but beforehand they stated the only reason they would not pay is because I was regularly driving my mom's other vehicle which I admitted but now they are just being unreasonable CHEAP, RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL. How they're still open, I have NO CLUE BECAUSE THEY DO NOT HELP ANYONE! Please avoid this insurance company who rapes people for their money just not cover you when you pay for full coverage!

BROOKSVILLE, FLORIDA -- I was involved in an accident on Mother's Day and called from the scene, took these people 4 days to come out and look at my car leaving me no time to buy a vehicle or fix this one as the day after their appraisal I had to be back to work. Most mainstream companies such as Geico or Allstate are put by the next day. Not 4 days after the fact. You may pay a little more for mainstream insurance but it is worth it as these people drag their feet to do anything for their people. Don't go with this company. Do some research first. Had I found these reviews I would have paid the extra.

Hurricane Damage Claim

PALM BAY, FLORIDA -- I had hurricane wind and flying debris damage to my vehicle from Hurricane Irma, I called and put in a claim, when I called in the claim, the representatives were all very rude, I was passed around like a hot potato, after like 5 transfers one agent took down my contact information and said an adjuster would contact me within 48 hours.

The representative Melbis **, called me on the weekend at night from her home, asked a bunch of questions about my policy (none pertaining to the incident at hand) as if she was probing to see if she could find an excuse not to pay my claim, she then said she was going to have a guy named Alexander come and estimate the damages about 1 week later. I got a call from a Michael, he came by a few days later, gave an estimate of about $3,000, and told me I should hear from Melbis within a few days.

This was 9/21/2017. She never called me back, I left 5 voicemails and finally today 10/9/2017 she calls, in my messages I told her I gave her my work hours, she called when I was working to make sure it would go to voicemail. Saying my claim has been reassigned to someone else due to coverage issues. BS.

FLORIDA -- My husband was in an auto collision with a woman who was insured by this "company". He has been trying to call them to file a claim for a month now. They do NOT return calls or answer the phone. He even has the manager's direct phone number and can't get a callback. The one time he actually spoke to a person, they immediately were defensive about paying the claim. He has been unable to get anything resolved and now we are out of pocket for an accident that was not his fault. I work in the industry and will be notifying the Florida Dept of Insurance.

Agent Sounded Bullying Over The Phone

MELBOURNE, FLORIDA -- About three weeks ago, I called Direct to inquire about a Name-Non-Owner type of auto insurance policy because I am trying to drive with Uber since I currently do not own a car. Uber can provide you a car and their insurance works in correspondence with yours. I was told that a Name-Non-Owner policy is the correct policy for ride sharing services like Uber. This agent at this Direct office said he could write a Name-Non-Owner, but told me that it wouldn't cover my passengers, and that I could be sued if I had an accident and my passengers were seriously injured.

Today, as I write this review, I logged into Uber, and they provide insurance to their drivers and their passengers. This agent told me I would need a business policy along with a business license. That's not true. I probably won't go here.

I have been with Direct a little over a year. I pay $278 each month for my insurance (since I am a new driver). I was rear-ended on 11/27/2016, the police report listed the other party/driver (GEICO) at fault. My car was totaled. When I called Direct and asked for help on what the procedure/protocol is for cars being totaled I was told "You are not the one at fault so there is nothing we can do." They provided very little help but they made sure to withdraw their payment even after the accident (for a car I no longer had).

I had to fight GEICO myself and even turned to the BBB and Dept. of Insurance for help. I'm sure others have had great experience but for paying almost $300 PER MONTH then you treat a loyal customer like that. NOPE. I'm switching!

NORTH CAROLINA -- My auto was involved in an accident. It's been a month and I have called the adjuster almost every day to only get her voicemail. I am leaving very detailed messages... my contact number and name. As of today I have been renting a car out of my pocket and haven't yet to hear from the adjuster. If you expect prompt service. Don't.

Horrible Customer Service, Support And Knowledge Of Business

DAYTONA BEACH, FLORIDA -- They have horrible customer service, support and knowledge of business. When you ask a question, you are redirected at least 3 times or on hold for at least 45 minutes. If you need to cancel a policy for any reason, it will take days and repeated requests. After giving them all the information they ask for, they continually ask you to verify the information. It seems like a never ending cycle of nonsense. I feel like I am dealing with a kindergarten class.

FT. WALTON BEACH, FLORIDA -- My grandson had an accident in his car for which I co-signed. He lives in Florida and I'm in Texas. Direct General, his insurance company, was very helpful in making the claim process as painless as possible. Marisa **, the agent with whom I was most in contact, was excellent in keeping me informed as to the process and progression of the claim. Now I have to work with the finance company and GAP insurance company. If they are as helpful and easy to work with as Direct General, then I will be a happy customer.
