I Was Left Stranded!

COOKEVILLE, TENNESSEE -- Let me begin by saying I am beyond furious. Yesterday, on July 14th, myself and another passenger had tickets for the 8:45 PM bus out of Cookeville, TN. After an almost 30 minute wait, a bus finally appeared. After showing our tickets to the female bus driver, she briefly looked at both and informed us that our correct bus would be arriving behind her shortly. We waited until FOUR in the morning for this mysterious bus to finally show.

After HOURS of talking to countless employees, and getting the runaround and excuses, not only did you not resolve our problem, we finally had to decide to head to our respective homes. The other young woman I was with was on her way to West Virginia to see her mother, who is dying in the hospital, and the best you people could do was send her on a new bus on the 15th, with no mention of compensation for this immense shortcoming of YOUR driver.

On my account, my sister is in the process of getting a FULL refund, which hasn't even been a straightforward process. To say I'm appalled by not only your drivers, but also your so called customer service, is an understatement. The woman I waited hours with told you multiple times that she had no ride home, but thankfully, my boyfriend and I were able to get her home at least. And, might I add, with absolutely NO thanks for your company.

Now, in order for me to arrive safe to my destination, my boyfriend and I are going to drive from TN to MD (which is where YOU were supposed to take me). I do not trust your drivers or your company to have me arrive anywhere I need to be, without leaving me stranded for hours on end. This has been the worst travelling experience I have EVER had, and I will see to it that no one in my family or friends ever wastes their money or time with your pathetic excuse for a company ever again.

PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA -- So RUDE! I haven't even left the GREYHOUND bus station in Pittsburgh to begin my trip and I felt like posting a review. Whoever is working ticketing at 6 am on 5/27 screamed at 4 other customers and I to move behind a line that we didn't see. Then the lady running gate 8 seemed too busy to answer my question "is this gate 8?" so I walked past her to the bus. She then proceeded to run me down and scream at me for walking past her without her answering. Probably a dozen people were there watching. Congratulations, you guys earned my first ever Google review. You are the UNITED of bus stations.

Update...she is operator Tracy. My bus driver 👎. Can't even make a new post but here's another update. Tracy made an unscheduled stop 1.5 hours into our trip at the Somerset Rest Station. She states everyone be back on the bus at 8 am. At 7:55 am, myself and 2 other random customers were left behind as Tracy had taken off early.

From there it took 1.5 hrs on the phone to reach customer service supervisor after employees could not do anything to help. They couldn't even guarantee the next bus coming 4.5 hours later could let me on the bus but I'd have to ask. Don't ask for a refund because it takes 48 hours for them to tell you if you can receive anything. Well here's to hoping they let us all on the next bus, and that my luggage did get unloaded at my stop since it is now with Tracy. By far the poorest customer service I've ever experienced (in person and on phone). I don't understand how companies like this can operate. Use Mega bus next time. Then you won't have a 4 hour trip turn into 9.

SYRACUSE, NEW YORK -- I have to say that I was very disappointed on my "Greyhound" trip this past week... I booked a fully refundable round-trip ticket from SYR to NYC online through the Greyhound website. I had not traveled on a bus in almost 40 years, but the rates were too good to pass up and the buses looked great...

I printed my ticket at home and both the tickets were labeled "Priority Seating", but the only the return was marked "Trailways"... I assumed this to be like an airline "code share" arrangement, and didn't think anything of it. I paid "full price" for a refundable ticket and priority seating and comparable amenities. Specifically it said (on my RETURN ticket ONLY):

"This part of your trip will be with our partner bus company, NEW YORK TRAILWAYS ###. Some of our partner carriers are unable to honor priority boarding, but you'll still get all the other great perks that come with your chosen fare."

When I got to the SYR station, it was NOT a modern Greyhound bus that waited for me... It was an older Trailways bus with cloth seats, cramped legroom, and a disgusting bathroom... Certainly NOT the leatherette seats and spacious, "upscale" interior, very nice Prevost bus advertised on the Greyhound website.

Everyone was already in line, so I got in line, too. When I got to the bus, I asked about the "Priority Seating" and was told "Oh, you should have come to the front of the line first..." No announcements, no signage, nothing... How was I to know?

On the return trip from NYC, I went right to the agent at the front of the line when I arrived at the terminal, and showed them the "Priority Seating" designation on my ticket. He said "We don't do that here." Are you kidding? I paid extra for that "great perk" and never got it.

On both buses, the rest room was filthy and foul smelling, the WiFi was spotty at best (I had to keep re-logging on) and on the return bus, the AC power plugs (to charge cell phones, laptops, etc) were so loose the plug kept falling out. Neither myself nor my seat mate could use them.

I feel like a "bait and switch" victim, and can tell you plainly that I shall NEVER, EVER, AGAIN travel by Greyhound or Trailways. Greyhound needs to up their game...

SALINA, KANSAS -- I've been riding Greyhound for over a year now because of my job as a professional OTR driver!!! The company I work for requires us drivers to get to our next jobs anyway that we can!!! We do not get paid much so it boils down to having to take this God awful bus line in order to make money at this job!!! I've spent thousands of dollars and ridden probably just as many hours on Greyhound buses!!! Do I freakin' recommend them??? Not only no, but bloody hell NO!!!

Right now I am sitting outside waiting for a bus to come at 2 o'clock in the morning!!! This stop, in Saint Joseph, Mo., has no restroom facilities, is nowheres near a place after 9 PM to use a restroom and they lock the dang doors to the only place to be out of the elements at 8 PM!!! I am NOT happy that I spend so much dang money on a business that I absolutely have to use and am subjected to this very unsafe environment!!! Greyhound Bus is the WORST dang business in this country!!!

I had purchased tickets to travel from Indianapolis to Milwaukee, WI with an one-hour layover in Chicago. I was schedule to leave Indianapolis at 2:40 am October 10, 2018. Actually left at approx. 4:40 am EST. This bus station looked like a junkyard minus the guard dogs. Filthy facility! Arrived in Chicago approx. 7:30 CST. Was suppose to depart at 6:15 am CST and arrive in Milwaukee, WI at 8:35 am CST. Actually arrived at 11:30 am.

We soon discovered that many drivers did not return to work after a strike on pay disagreement. They opt to retire or seek other employment. Yet Greyhound continue to book all routes knowing there was a shortage in drivers which resulted in dysfunction throughout the USA. Will never ride another Greyhound. They didn't even have the decency to offer complimentary coffee. RATING is 0 Star! Horrendous!

Worst Bus Service on Earth

ATLANTA, GEORGIA -- Greyhound bus station in downtown Atlanta GA is the worse place that anyone travelling could ever imagine. Although Greyhound bus services have a reputation for very poor customer services, the Atlanta station is the worst of it all. 99% of the workers at this station are very rude, the toilets are very dirty and the sitting areas are extremely filthy. They never have any accountability of your luggage or an explanation for a delayed bus. Passengers are treated very badly & an estimated wait time for a scheduled trip is over usually between 4-5 hours without any notification or apologies. I would have given a zero star if available for the worse transportation services ever. Someone in the department of transportation or human services needs to do something about it soon.

VICTORVILLE, CALIFORNIA -- I booked my one way trip from Victorville to Santa Ana on 6/9/18. I booked this trip for this day and time so I would be able to attend my friends memorial service, which I ended up missing due to Greyhounds 2 hour late bus and the driver deciding to change the order the stops. Here is what happened:
The scheduled time of pick up in Victorville was 10:45am Saturday, June 9th. The bus arrived at 12:30 pm with no explanation or apology from the driver. Not only was the trip delayed 2 hours from the start? I don't know why. Then the driver decided on his own no explanation again to stop in Anaheim first before Santa Ana? Why? The schedule clearly states the order of the stops and it is Santa Ana first then Anaheim. They are close enough that my ride could have easily picked me up in Anaheim or Sanat Ana but because the scheduled stops are Santa ana then Anaheim I chose Santa Ana. So after waiting for people to get off and get their bags he got back on the bus and announced that he stopped in Anaheim first to save time. WHAT!!!! Save whose time? Lousy customer service and lousy service in general if I could give them a - star rating I would.

To make a long sad story short I missed my friend's memorial service. I will be looking into a different transportation service for all of my future trips.

KANSAS CITY, INDIANA -- On Thursday, Feb.15, 2018, our Southwest Airlines flight was diverted to Kansas City, MO due to Fog at our destination in Chicago, IL. At the time of arrival, we were told by Southwest that there were no available flights till the evening of Friday, Feb.16 (which we would have to miss work on Fri. which is loss income). We were a party of five (5). No rent cars large enough to get us home, plus we were in no condition to make the nine (9) hour car trip. We also looked in to the Amtrak Train, etc.

We came up with Greyhound Bus, I booked five (5) tickets at $120 a ticket. Within the hour of booking the tickets, Southwest airlines, add a plane and called in a flight crew to accommodate the disaster travel situation. I called Greyhound to cancel our tickets, I mean it's a no brainer, a 10h bus ride or an hour flight!? Greyhound DID NOT issue a refund, wanted more money to change the ticket, and I spoke to a supervisor, several CSRs and no one was of any help...

I think it's bad business for such a large company and bad Customer Service. You should receive a refund on anything you purchase. I am now disputing these charges with my credit card/bank. And they are more helpful and understanding to the above situation. My Bank agrees with me and says they are 90% sure payment will be stopped. I have wrote several reviews about Greyhound and this incident to travel Magazines. Meanwhile Southwest has not only accommodated us on that same day but has also giving us Love Bucks...

NEW JERSEY -- They have a new scam going on. Okay my husband used his bank card to pay for his cousin's ticket, lo and behold these bastards charged him an extra fee called "GIFT FEE" 20.00 extra dollars which he was unaware of until he read the confirmation email.

We called immediately to ask for a refund because this was absurd and the dumbest representative answered the phone and we got into a confrontation with this non English speaking woman and then asked to speak to her supervisor. And after waiting for 15 minutes he get on the line and he was inconsiderate and rude. So my husband hung up. SMDH. These folks need to be investigated and policies need to be reviewed and revised.

MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA -- I travel back and forth from Minnesota to Texas often. I have had nothing but horrible experiences with this means of travel. It seems like the drivers could care less that you have paid for your fare and treat riders like they are dirt. In addition to the awful conditions of the buses. Smells so bad it makes you ill. Talk to you like you are nothing. I am done with this means of travel and would not recommend this to anyone else. I am not one to complain about things but I have had several horrible experiences with this bus line. I will fly from now on regardless of cost. They have lost a valued customer.
