JOHNS CREEK, GEORGIA -- DO NOT BUY INSURANCE FROM THIS CO, they will not honor it. I bought furniture from Ashley Furniture, got the insurance. I filed a claim May 7th, filled out the paperwork, took pictures, etc then I got a call that my dad died and everything sorta stopped for me. I had to fly out of the country for the funeral, etc. When I returned I called the company and lady said "Send it in anyway."

I did and got an email saying "The request has not been processed and is not eligible for service because the required time frame for returning the service request form, sales receipt, and/or copy of the plan was not met." I called and explained the situation, I can supply death certificate, etc. All I got was "sorry" and I am unable to resubmit claim. I am very upset! Do not waste your money with this company. Very dishonorable.

Declined My Two Broken Chair Claims With Silly Reason

GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN -- Our two dining chairs were broken accidentally, so I called Guardsman and sent them pictures of broken chair. On March 7, someone from Guardsman called me and asked the reason for broke chairs. I said it don't know when it happened and exact reason. Based on my statement without listening or giving me chance, representative told me that "this is not accidental damage so your claim is declined."

I asked how to do know that this is not accidental damage. The person told me that I have told him. I argued with person that I told that I do not know the exact time and reason. It might be my kids broken it. Person was not ready to accept my any reason and was so rude and do not want talk to me. I guess at last he hang up on me. I feel person was rude and unprofessional. I have spoken to manager also regarding this and Guardsman had assumed that this is not accidental damage and not defect also.

My question to Guardsman as this is not manufacturing defect then how chair has broken itself. Manager has some funny reason to support claim for this logic. If chairs are broken it should be covered, it does not matter who broke it, when it was broken. I do not have video camera at home to record events how was chair broken, what time it was broken, who broke it. It is broken and Guardsman needs to cover under accidental warranty.

Protection Plan Is A Scam

BRANDON, FLORIDA -- A complete scam! I purchased a policy for all my furniture and the one time I need to use it my claim gets denied. The leather is peeling as well as the finish on my table. After a month waiting for a reply, they told me peeling is not covered on the sofa, and the peeling on the table is also being denied because I didn't see it happen. It's obvious they deny every claim to avoid standing behind their pathetic scam of a policy!! From what I'm reading online, this is their common practice. Unfortunately, I trusted the furniture company and its recommendation of purchasing this policy. It's obvious both Ashley Furniture and Guardsman are in this scam together.

GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN -- I have purchase multiple pieces of furniture from Nebraska Furniture Mart with the Guardsman's Gold Warranty. On EVERY claim Guardsman denied, even though these warranties cover accidental damage.
On my buffet from normal use the clasp that holds the door closed was broken. Claim was denied because warranty does not cover clasps.
On my dining room arm chairs, the arms have become disconnected from the chair. Claim denied because the don't cover loose joints.
Finally on my leather couch, which is not all leather. The underside that is vinyl has been flaking and cracking. The leather has been discolored. This claim has been accepted, but rather than replace the entire couch they sent coverings that don't match each other let alone the existing pieces. My only option was to replace non-matching covering or close the claim.

DO NOT BUY A WARRANTY FROM THIS COMPANY. THEY WILL FIND A WAY TO DENY YOUR CLAIM FOR ONE REASON OR ANOTHER. IF THEY CAN'T DENY, THEY WILL DO THE BARE MINIMUM TO FIX AND IT WON'T BE RIGHT.

The Most Unethical Ripoff Company Imaginable

J&JP FUNDING CORP., CALIFORNIA -- Guardsman is absolutely and without question the worst, most unethical company I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. If you are lucky enough to get into and navigate the claims process, you will find that your claim will be denied if it is not filed within five days after the problem occurred. So, if you file a claim on the sixth day, it will be denied. Moreover, if new damage occurs after your first claim is denied that is unrelated to the denied claim, your claim for the new damage will be denied because your earlier claim was denied. In other words, after a claim is denied, all future claims are denied.

All I can say is Guardsman is an unethical, money-grubbing business that should be prosecuted for fraud. Giving money to Guardsman is like burning money in your fireplace. It is my individual, personal, subjective belief that I was ripped off by this company. Therefore, it is my individual, personal, subjective opinion and belief, that the company is incompetent, dishonest, and/or unethical. The foregoing review solely provides my individual, personal, subjective opinions, beliefs, and interpretations. SARASOTA, FLORIDA -- My complaint is the same as everyone else. Bought a recliner from Havertys and mistakenly bought this rip off protection plan. Mechanism broke after 2 years on this $1200 chair they could not repair because they no longer make this mechanism but still manufacture the exact same chair. So since I bought the chair on sale they won't replace it with the same chair and they won't repair so we are out of luck. So now we have to go out and spend money on a new chair when the one we have is in excellent shape other than the broken mechanism. I am contacting BBB and the State Attorney's Office here in Florida. This company should not be allowed to do business in any state.

Recliner Foot Rest Repair

CEDAR RAPIDS, MICHIGAN -- I had my fantastic experience with these fly by night individuals on 10-07-15 and I see they are still at it. We purchased an expensive recliner from an exclusive furniture store in New Orleans on 9-26-12. The Guardsman Gold 5 year protection plan was purchased with the chair (GSRF **).

On 08-01-15 Staples began to protrude through the leather of the footrest. The Staples continued to move and were reported to Guardsman on 09-07-15. I was refused repair service because the date the defect was first noticed and the date reported exceeded the time span allowed by Guardsman. Things went downhill from here. Guardsman also refused to refund the remainder of the premium once I requested policy cancellation.

The furniture store, Hurwitz Mintz, also refused to step in and assist. Needless to say I no longer do business with either. The recliner is a high quality $2200.00 piece of furniture. The furniture manufacturer, Motioncraft, was contacted and repaired the defect free of charge. I still do business with Motioncraft by Sherrill and consider them to be a very high quality business.

Scam Warranty Product

GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN -- I bought the Guardsman 10-year warranty with my new mattress from a reputable retailer (The Bay in Canada). Part of the warranty is to provide mattress covers when they need replacement. Mine developed a split and I went through the process of filling out their extensive claim form, mailed it, and uploaded photos. That was in July of last year. In August, I received an email confirming request of my claim.

Four months later I still hadn't heard anything so I filled out an online form to follow up and simply got an email telling me to call the service center. I did and after being put on hold for 15 minutes spoke to someone who said that they'd follow up and call me back. A week later, I hadn't heard anything. I called again (another 15 minutes on hold) and was again told that they would follow up and get back to me.

I asked to speak to someone who could resolve this and I was transferred to a mailbox that was full, and the option to be transferred to someone else was notified me that there wasn't anyone available. This is far more time and mind space than I want to spend on a mattress cover but I'm guessing that's what they're banking on so that they don't have to make good on satisfying claims. Their business model seems to hinge on making it so inconvenient to file a claim that no one bothers. I can imagine that this applies to replacing the furniture, too. The warranty sounds like good peace of mind but it's worthless unless they actually honour the insurance they sold you. Instead, it's just aggravating to feel like you've been scammed.

Worst Customer Service Ever!

PALM HARBOR, FLORIDA -- I purchased a warranty for my dining room table and chairs - yes, purchased, meaning above and beyond what warranty I should have received. I was told this was an extensive policy. I noticed over time that two of my dining room chairs had a small stain on them. I can only assume it was from one of my cats sitting on the chair.

I opened a claim on Sept 11th, 2019; I FIRST received a response via email from Guardsman on Nov 25, 2019 - TWO AND A HALF MONTH LATER! Today, Jan 3, 2020, I still had not heard anything so I called them. It turns out since I put the word 'pet' on my claim, they denied it - even though I specifically asked about this when I purchased the plan! WORTHLESS! This was an example of throwing money down the drain. DO NOT purchase this plan! You will not be able to take advantage of it! For the record, I have NEVER given a '1' rating on anything before.

Don't Waste Your $$ on Guardsman Protection Plan

Can I do 0 star? The protection plan is useless, it covers nothing, or they just lying... 5 years ago we purchased a 10K sofa sectional set for the new house we just bought, the salesperson suggested us to buy a protection plan state it will cover "any" damage include fading. That is the only reason I bought the plan as at that time we don't have kids, pets, we don't drinking... This only possibility I can see if the sun damage as we have not decide what window treatment to put on.

This Oct, I noticed there's some scratch and stain on all pieces. As our dog, adopted after purchasing the sofa set, must sneak in and eat his food on each pieces of the set... I was thanking good that I purchased the plan, so I immediately go online and start preparing my claim. First of all, the claim interface is confusion, a lot of questions but not very well organized so it is not easy to fill out. They also suggest to add pictures so that the process will be faster (total BS!!).

After figure out issues adding pictures (they don't accept certain formats but the website won't tell you, just show a lot scripting, but I am ok with tech so I figure out the issues eventually myself. After finally submitted the claim, it still took them 2+ week to deny my claim, possible it's because my follow up. Without my follow up who knows how much longer!!! So if the plan don't cover scratch and oil stain, what else this protection plan is good for? On the other hand, the furniture store should stop promote these plans, it makes you part of the crime!!!
