Problem With Continuous Blowing of Horn Automatically in Honda Civic 1.8
By -

I Purchased my Honda Civic - 1799cc from Prime Honda - Ghaziabad - India, manufactured in 2006 in India by Honda Seil. Within one year with 15000km of operation, one fine day its horn started blowing automatically and which was not stopping even with the removal of starting key. It became nuisance on the road. Police man was upset. I drove the car to Honda Ace - Noida for rectification.

After two days, they gave me my car back ensuring that the fuse box has been changed and now it will not give problem. Again I have faced the similar problem after 6 months and now they are again changing it. I have lost my confidence as it appears there is some design problem with the circuit in this car. It some time stop automatically and again you never know when it will again start blowing of its own. Nobody in Honda service center in India is taking responsibility. I am fed up and don't know how to contact the relevant authority in Honda system who can help me. In India nobody cares.

Wheel Bearings
By -

WILMINGTON, NORTH CAROLINA -- I bought my Honda new in 2005. Since I have owned this vehicle I have had the wheel bearings changed 5 times. The 1st time was at 2000 miles and the last was at 65,000+. A wheel bearing is a wear and tear item and should not be going bad this often. Til now it has been an inconvenience; but as of the last time I now get to pay for this. The repair people are good; but obviously this vehicle needs more than just the bearing changed. Either the engine mount, transmission and maybe even the steering has to be out of alignment or something.

It's obvious to me that this will happen again. I am 67 years old and had hoped, judging by my last Honda, that this would be the last car I would have to buy. Financially I cannot trade in and buy new. I am retired and living on a fixed income. Any assistance you can give me in getting this fixed correctly would be much appreciated. I bought the car from Crown Honda in Charlotte, NC. They have repaired it twice & Stevenson has repaired it 3 times.

Uncomfortable Headrests
By -

I just bought a 2009 Honda Civic in May (we have owned 3 Hondas in the past). I LOVE the car and the way it handles, but I HATE the headrests! I have chiropractor bills to prove how damaging it is!!! The headrest will not fit my head comfortably, and it pushes it forward into a very unnatural position (and this cannot be noticed in a 15 min. test drive!). I tried turning it backwards, but then I would not be protected in the event of an accident! I contacted Honda, but they don't seem to care at all. My husband wanted me to buy a Toyota, and I am now regretting my decision to buy another Honda!!!

Cause and Effect - the Run Around!
By -

JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA -- I am very upset, and not to mention out of a couple hundred dollars due to a faulty car function. My car's rear tires were warped, bald, and just bad after 30,000 miles. It was only after taking it to the Honda dealership was I told that my car was under warranty to get the Upper Control Arms replaced, but the tires would be my financial responsibility.

I don't feel that is right. If the car wasn't run inappropriately, then my tires wouldn't need replacing. Not to mention, the customer service representative told me that up to 20,000 miles, the tires would have been covered. NOWHERE IS THAT STATED... Not to mention, the "floating brake pads" that ALL Hondas have (that's what I was told) that will cost me $90 for each set, if I want the clacking noise to stop. ON A TWO YEAR OLD CAR... unbelievable.

Liability Insurance Higher Even Though The Car Is Safer
By -

I purchased a 08 Honda Civic hybrid. Think it is a step in the right direction but I have several concerns. I called Honda and was distressed with their response. When I received my insurance bill for the Civic I noted that the liability cost was greater than the cost for the car it replaced, a 2000 Volvo. I note that the Civic is advertised and sold as a five star safe car. The cost was also higher than the premium for a 2000 Mercedes c230; both cars do not have the airbags that the Civic has. The premium is also higher for the Civic as compared to the Toyota Prius...

Honda's response was that it was not their concern and they were not interested. The representative told me that I should have researched it before I bought the vehicle. I also noted that the warranty on the battery is different in length of time and mileage on the battery that is used to operate the car. In my state it is about half of the warranty in some other states.

Some years ago I remember the pronouncement of the President of Honda who proclaimed that they would voluntary extend the warranty on seat belts for the life of the car. That was done to show promote safety, care for their customers and gain market. The representative had no response and refused to pass the question on. He indicated he was the final voice. Frankly, I was taken back by the response that I received from Honda.

High-Price Maintenance of Honda
By -

BRAZIL -- I am a recent Honda consumer. I just bought a Honda Civic EX about 1 year. The car is complete, with ABS, air-bags and lateral reinforcement. A car bumped into my lateral and the car proved to be safe. After that, I made quotation in 3 different stores, including a Honda Authorized store. I did not leave at Honda dealer because they listed 2 (two) left laterals, each one costing about 1000 dollars. I paid about 1500 dollars to get all the job done.

After about 5000 miles, I took the car to another Honda dealer to check a noise on the bearings. Again another shock: 900 dollars for 1 (one) bearing. I have a GM top-of-line that is already out of production, so parts are very expensive, but they cost less than half the price of the Honda Civic parts! I called the consumer service at Brazil to talk about these prices. They said Honda dealers are free to give the price they like and did not care about my problem.

Since Honda Brazil does not care about losing consumers, I am giving a third (and last) try to contact someone at Honda who can prove that Honda´s cost maintenance is low. I expect a reply. I am selling my Honda and having everyone know that the low-price Honda has cost maintenance over double the price of a top-of-line GM or Volkswagen.

Transmission Defect
By -

WAUKESHA, WISCONSIN -- I am extremely unhappy with the purchase of my very first car, a Honda Civic EX. When I purchased this car in 2001 it was new and I also purchased the extended warranty. My car is now 7 years old and only has 78,000 miles on it but now needs a new transmission rebuild. Honda refuses to help. My extended warranty expired last year. Every diagnostic performed on the car never revealed a problem. Just one day two quick jerks and my car had died. I am surprised and disappointed that this has happened. I was told that Honda has the highest resale value and are really good cars. I will be in the market for a new car in 3 years and Honda will never pass my lips.

SMOG THIS!
By -

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA -- I've had my 1996 Civic for approx. 5 years, granted it is used and older. I purchased my car in Long Beach, CA. Got it registered here in Las Vegas, NV. First year I got it smog it PASSED! Next year comes around, it's time to register, FAILED SMOG! OK, no problem. Took it to the Findley Honda Dealership here in town and they got my Civic to pass smog. Next year comes around, FAILED.. OK, back to the same dealership. Got it to pass and stated it was fixed. Another year passes, time to register again, guess what? FAILED!

Dealership once again, "We fixed it". Gave me the paperwork and I was on my merry way. NOW this year, my fiance took the car to get it smog for me because I knew it would fail again. And what do you know? FAILED! I took it this time and asked ** to fix it this time or they will not have a repeated customer. He said and I quote "We like seeing you! I will do my best. It's a 10 year old car." Give me a break! 4 years for the same issue? Diagnostic Trouble Code Description: Evaporative Emission Control S. Malfunction indicator light: ON.

Note: I do not see any check engine light on when I am running my car. Keep in mind that they keep my car for the whole day! What do I say to this? These guys are not "fixing" it! They are wasting my time and money. If they were to offer me a free car, I would decline the offer.

Honda Engine Fails After 120k Miles
By -

OREGON -- I was informed today that my Honda Civic DX 96 needs a new engine. It has 120k miles on it and I am the original and only owner. I have done the preventive maintenance as suggested in the Owner's Manual. The dealer and Honda both agreed it was not normal for the car to need a new engine after 120k miles. But, nevertheless, Honda said they would not compensate me in any way for it. They also said "Honda is aware of the consequences of their decision", i.e., loss of a customer plus plus plus, since I'm flaming them big time to all friends and family. I will go back to Toyota. I am not sure why I switched to Honda in the first place. Honda sucks.
