Mistreating consumers/Very poor customer service
By -

I purchased an HP Office Jet J4680 All in One Printer approximately one year ago for approximately $180.00. In this one year period of time, I have spent a MINIMUM of $366.00 in black and color cartridges. I'm quite certain the amount is even great, but I am supplying a low estimate. When I have tried using local ink/cartridge suppliers for a much discounted rate, I received messages on my printer that my printer cartridge was "incompatible" and my printer would not work.

To say that Hewlett Packard is taking advantage of their customers is an understatement. There are no discounts, there are no coupons; you pay full retail price with NO other options. Just as AIG, the auto industry, health insurance and other greedy companies finally fell apart, I believe and I hope that Hewlett Packard receives a similar "wake-up" call.

While searching on the HP web site, there is nowhere (that I could find) to even send complaints, feedback, or even any customer service reviews. This is very telling as to how Hewlett Packard regards their relationship with their customers. I will never purchase another Hewlett Package product again and will extremely vocal to anyone who will listen that they could buy a new printer at least twice per year just for the cost of refilling ink cartridges. I would have paid $100.00 more for the printer had HP been reasonable with their toner prices and upfront with their so-called valuable customers.

If anyone knows of a link, web site, direct company address, contact information of any kind, I would be very grateful to have this information and send my comments and more DIRECTLY to Hewlett Packard. If it would not place me in a compromised position, I would post my comments on Facebook, Twitter, etc.

Our country was hit hard with the economic downfall and how does Hewlett Packard respond to such a crisis and millions of people in desperate financial circumstances? They hide from their customers and continue to charge outrageous, greedy, gluttonous and come dangerously close to gouging the American public at a time when many people have lost or will lose their homes, have lost their jobs, cannot afford groceries, have wound up homeless and worse.

If I am capable of locating the proper forum/venue to reach thousands or even millions of people to warn them of Hewlett Packard's despicable practices, I would feel as if I could be of some help to people in saving some money in these difficult times. Again, if anyone can provide any additional information as to how to "get the word out," I would be very grateful.

The Worst Tech Support Ever!
By -

ROSEBURG, OREGON -- I had to call HP's tech support line because my new printer would no longer pull photo paper threw the photo tray. I called HP's tech support to see what could be done to remedy the problem. The first tech person went through all the trouble shooting with me and when he could not fix my problem he asked I call back in 5 minutes. I did ask how I would be connected to him and he said that he had my support ticket and it would go through.

Of course when I called back the second time I could not be connected through to that specific person. The second person started to have me go through all the same trouble shooting and at first I went along with it because she said nothing had been entered on the computer about my ticket number.

At the beginning of this phone call I asked to speak to a supervisor, was never given one. When we got done with the trouble shooting I explained that none of the trouble shooting was working and since the item was less than 2 months old, with a manufacturers defect, I wanted to know if it would be covered under the 1 year warranty. Next thing I knew the phone hung up. I called back and specifically asked to speak to a supervisor and this time I sat on the phone for 10 minutes before I hung up again.

The final time I called back I was assured I would get a supervisor and what do you know I was transferred to tech support AGAIN. This time the technician admitted all my phone calls were in the system. I had previously been told no info was entered in the system of the problems I was having. She initially asked me to once again go through all the trouble shooting and I said no, I had done all that, detailed everything I had done and was not going to do it again.

I wanted to know what exactly they were going to do to honor their warranty. They did say they would send a replacement but if I wanted it faster that it would cost me over 37.00 for shipping. I did ask if the product replacing the one I had was new and she said yes. So we will see. It took 4 Tech support agents to fix a problem that the first agent should have handled. All four asked me to do the same exact thing!!!!!!!! The total time on the phone to get my problem solved was over 3 HOURS. Worst tech support ever. Will debate ever buying an HP product again.

New Printer by HP Has Huge Issues

CONNECTICUT -- My office purchased the above Officejet June 19, 2013. At first when I bought it and hooked it up it would not connect via the USB wire so I had to call in and spent most of the day trying to change things around so that it would be hooked up through the wireless. Then I came into work on July 8, 2013 and the printer would not work at all. Called and spent most of the day with tech support and they could not repair the problem so they shipped me a new one. That, I received the next morning, hooked it up and spent a better part of the day getting that one to work.

Now, approx a month later Aug 8, 2013, the new one they sent is now telling me that there is an obstruction in the Ink access door (there is nothing there). I was on the phone with Tech Support again all day trying to fix this new problem. They finally said they would order me a new one and it would be shipped the next day. Well today is the next day and I still do not have it. Now I'm being told Monday.

This machine has huge firmware/software issues which tech support will gladly address but you will be without a printer for as many days as they so desire... I did explain I work for a Law Firm with time sensitive documents and was told that if I wasn't happy I can buy a contract with their representatives so someone local can deal with it... welcome to HP - Oh and by the way when you ask to lodge a complaint they just put the information in their database for statistical purposes.

Hewlett Packard Digs Its Own Grave Selling Junk

PALO ALTO, CALIFORNIA -- I was given this printer so this isn't so much a complaint as a sigh of relief. Also, even though it is quite evident that HP couldn't give a rat's bum about customer satisfaction I'd like to let them know how satisfying it was to smash their piece of junk into a pile of pieces and leave the HP logo to rot where it belongs in the local landfill. If you're reading this because you're considering buying a HP printer, in my experience the printer worked okay until the first ink cartridge was empty and never printed another page. Once the cartridge was replaced the indicator read that the cartridge was damaged.

Of course, their customer service forums are not currently operating. That's when I looked to see if anyone else had the same problem. It seems that HP makes bogus printers to boost their ink sales. Bunch of jokers. No matter - compared to the other complaints I've read I got off easy. Never again Hewlett Packard.

Office jet all in one

PALO ALTO, CALIFORNIA -- I have a 4500 all in one office jet and the ink cartridge goes empty in no time. # 901 black bought 5/8/2012 may have made 10 copies went on 2 week vacation had may be 9 faxes come in, was working for maybe 3 more copies and then blank. It appears that I might have gotten an old or half empty cartridge.

The 1st Customer Serv. Person told me that my nothing is wrong with the ink but that my HP copier has to be replaced as it uses to much ink. He referred me to another # 1 800474 6836 here I spoke to ** today and he made me push all kinds of buttons to clean it but no ink came out and told me someone must have used the printer while I was on vacation.

I am the only person in the office and the only one with a key. Then he told me to upgrade my copier which I will not do as it is barely 1 year old well that is old he said and then he said I should buy another black ink cartridge. Very unhelpful. The color was working fine all this time. I use HP for the last 15 years plus at home and in the office but this is my last printer no more to many cartridges and the scan function never worked either I even called in about it but no really helps.

Lame Customer Service for Missing Part
By -

USA, COLORADO -- I purchased a printer and the box was missing the USB cable. I went online to find a customer service phone number or live chat and there was neither. The only numbers HP publishes is numbers for purchasing products. I called one of these and was transferred to the warranty department who promptly told me I would have to purchase the part even though they forgot to include the part in the box. So, two strikes against HP--one big one for not having a customer service number and another for being sleazy and putting their mistake on me, saying I needed to, once again, purchase something from them--something I had already purchased in the first place.

Really bad product from company I trusted for years
By -

I have been on computer three hours trying to talk to anybody. They block every approach. I was trying to print something very important, and the printer just stopped I opened door to printer cartridge and the printer ejected it hitting my wrist. Printer tells me on its screen that this was not an HP cartridge it was not printing anything. I did have a HP printer before this one it used refill cartridges. Has the world gotten so greedy that a printer that had been printing with this cartridge before it attacked me.

I called HP all I got was no help could not understand each other. I spent two more hours online, even was told they would tell which other cartridges were acceptable and was told site unavailable. Believe me I tried five of the tips to help none worked.

You're crazy if you buy from HP

PALO ALTO, CALIFORNIA -- HP turned a simple problem into a nightmare. An $88 printer was DOA. I had to spend over 4 hours talking to Customer Service. They did not return calls as promised. Had to call them again & again. C. S. promised to take care of authorizing a return, but never did. I finally found the web address of their return center & spent over 30 minutes "chatting". They refused to take the return because it was over the 21 day period they allow. Only it wasn't if you count the notification time as the week I spent talking to customer service.

Then I called a number the chat person gave me & spent another 45 minutes on the phone before they told me they could not take the return because it was over the 21 day period they allow. Then I waited another 20 minutes before a supervisor came on the line, and finally authorized the return.

Anybody who buys from HP should have their head examined. HP, and American Corporations in general, have given new meaning to the Reagan slogan "just say no". Their customer service is like big lost in hell. They keep thanking you over & over, never stay on point, and basically just try to get you to give up. I think it's dishonesty at its worse. The simple answer is "It arrive broke? We'll take care of it."

HP Officejet 7500 E910 Caveat Emptor
By -

BATAVIA, ILLINOIS -- Two weeks ago I bought a new HP Officejet 7500 E910. I need a wide format printer for some of the work I do and had very good service from my previous HP printer. When it arrived I was very excited until I started reading the very thin manual that is included with the printer. HP was too cheap to send me a printed copy of the user's manual and instead referred me to an online version. I spent a good deal of time looking for direction on how to use the manual feed 2 sided printing feature--could not find it.

So I began experimenting and figured out how to load and reload the paper and what boxes to check and uncheck on the print command drop down. I started to print and almost immediately ran out of ink--easy solution buy the extended capacity cartridges--WRONG. This printer uses HUGE quantities of ink and after 4 copies of a 50 page document the online supply check shows that there is about 1/4 of the ink left but the color copies that are reproduced have colors that are not even close to accurate for the color registration. So if you are going to buy the dog beware of the fact that you will pay through the nose for ink.

Another Unhappy Customer

Proud owner of an HP8500 all in one Printer THAT IS WORTHLESS FOR ANYTHING BUT AN ANCHOR! Purchased this printer after being a loyal HP customer for many years... I was sold a bill of goods being told that printer was more cost effective so I paid more... This printer NEVER worked! I was sent off to buy expensive new Print heads and Ink. I was sent 4 replacements that also did not work. I had to lug the Old ones to UPS to return... I STILL DO NOT HAVE A WORKING PRINTER AT OUR REAL ESTATE OFFICE!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just left Staples who is selling this model out on clearance. Spoke with the manager who says that production on them was stopped because of all of the problems, yet they are still selling the rest of the defective inventory to UNSUSPECTING CUSTOMERS. We call repeatedly and the only help we get is to ship us a NEW DEFECTIVE PRODUCT.
