They Are Not a Good Company!

FLORIDA -- My Husband and I are middle-class citizens trying to make ends meet for ourselves and our 13-year-old son on 49,000.00 per year more or less and our employers do not provide health insurance. We do own our home and we are now in our mid forties, so we thought we should obtain health insurance, to protect our son and our home, and ourselves, should we get cancer or some other horrible disease.

Humana seemed like the best bet three years ago when we signed up for basically major medical with a 2500.00 deductible and a premium of 360.00 per month for just me and my husband (our son has an affordable state insurance that is offered for children in our state, THANK GOD). After one year of paying on time and filing no claims, we got a rate increase of 80.00 per month! We were barely able to pay the 360.00!

So Humana offered us a higher deductible of 5,000.00 in order to keep the same premium. Then after another 12 month period of filing no claims and always paying on time, they raised our premium again, this time by 105.00! They also said that we were already at the highest avail. deductible, so pay up or get out! Literally crying as I hung up the phone, I decided we would try to pay the 465.00 per month… after all we'd already paid them thousands of dollars and never gotten sick. If we cancelled now and got in a terrible accident or got cancer, we'd have to sell our home to pay the medical bills.

After the gas went up this year and the groceries went up, we were unable to pay the full amount last month. I made a phone payment of 420.00, hoping they would send a late note for the extra 45.00. No luck. They sent a cancellation letter. Now they are CONSIDERING reinstating us, but they are now putting a rider on allergies for me, since my doctor said on my recent appointment that I have allergies and need Flonase. What a scam!

They raise the rates so high that you cannot pay on time and then when you pay late, they look over the records and hold them over your head, saying, "Well, we might reinstate you after you pay up the money you owe but no more coverage for anything your doctor ever mentioned that you have or may have during the coverage period!"

Lucky Humana! I bet they love it when people pay late and have to get reinstated! This gives them an excellent opportunity to disallow anything that has come up the whole time. Beware cancer patients! Don't ever ever pay late! Humana would rather see you die than pay out another dime for you. They are evil! In the end they will pay for what they have done to their fellow humans. And what a name HUMANA. Yeah right.

They Could Care Less !

I enrolled with Humana/RightSourceRX on Aug. 1 2011. They received my prescription for a controlled substance on Sept.19.2011. I kept checking the drug history page to find it's "In process". It is still "in process" as I write this. A pharmacist took it upon himself to deem this "dangerous to my health" and never notified me! They called the doctor for a substitute over a week ago, but there is none. Again they never called or emailed that there was going to be an indefinite delay in shipping the drug. When I called three days ago I was told it would ship that day since I told them I only had enough for three days.

When I called today, the first of many people I was transferred to could only tell me that the pharmacist said it was dangerous for my health. When asked why after taking it for 38 years I was told only the pharmacist knows and "they don't talk to people". Sometime later, the third or fourth person I spoke with actually transferred me to a pharmacist, but she wasn't familiar with the situation. Another person said she would connect me with the "Failed Claims" department. After 'holding for 18 minutes I was told she only got an answering machine. Now they have to get a Prior Authorization and no one can tell me how long before the medication will be shipped... if at all!

Why didn't they ask that when they called him last week. Just now I was on the phone with them again for over 1 hour. The usual run around. Nobody takes credit and just passes the phone around. I have been taking this drug since December of 1973 and never had a problem till this Pharmacist tried to score points with his boss. If you don't want these kind of headaches or are already familiar with them...

STAY AWAY FROM RightSourceRX Pharmacy. I have to go back to the doctor to get another prescription for a controlled substance. Fortunately I've been going to him for a long time. This is a good example of a supposedly highly educated individual taking responsibility much too far at my expense!

Humana Medicare Prescription Plan Has TERRIBLE Service
By -

On Wednesday, I talked to a service representative who said I would need to fax in a power of attorney form to get access to a deceased family member's prescription records. Fair enough. The representative told me that they could get me the information on the same day that I send in the fax. He was wrong. I called shortly after sending the fax and was told it takes two days for them to confirm receiving the fax. (And yes, they have no one in the room that receives that fax who can call you when it arrives, rather its entered into their computer system and then you call back and hope they have. If they don't have, then you just pissed away two days needlessly.)

So, I asked to have the original representative call me back to explain to me why he gave me the bogus information. It's been a week and no phone call yet. Then on Monday, I'm told that the representative gave me the wrong fax number and the person on the phone had no clue as to what the number was for that the first representative provided me. I explained that it was known four business days since I had sent the fax and they still had no record of it and I asked to talk to a supervisor. I got the supervisor's voice mail and left her message. Now, I have two people at the company who have failed to call me back.

On Tuesday just one day short of a week, someone at the company finally confirmed receiving the fax. Way to go Humana! They explained that it would take approximately 14 days for me to receive the information. Thanks Humana for your promptness. Then they said I could access the information online but the systems wouldn't let me in so they transferred me to tech support. I explained to the tech person the error message and he said, "Oh, it's just a glitch. Try it again in an hour and it will work." So I asked him, what will be different in an hour and he said the glitch would be repaired. He was wrong as three hours later I was unable to sign in.

I had talked to him as 6 P.M. and I suppose he didn't want to stay past quitting time so he feed me a bunch of bull. Well I hope I didn't make him late getting home. I work for a Fortune 500 company that is preparing to put its medical benefit plan out for bid. I will do everything in my power to discuss this incredible chain of incompetence with our HR executives to ensure that they do not even consider letting Humana bid on our plans. Humana is terrible.

You Don't Meet Criteria Ma'am!
By -

In April of this year I was evaluated by my neurosurgeon for review of my recent cervical MRI. The doctor's exact words were, "your c-4 through c-7 look like dog poop." I was then scheduled for disc replacement surgery on 6/1/10, not only because of my results but because of my symptoms - tingling in upper extremity, pain in neck, back and arm, loss of strength in extremity, etc..... Until 2 months ago I never took anything stronger than Motrin or Toradol injections for my pain.

On the Friday afternoon before my surgery I received a call from my surgeon's office telling me that Humana has cancelled my surgery because they need to speak with my doctor. How many doctors do you know that are in the office on Friday afternoon with a holiday weekend coming up! I was told he would speak to them on Tuesday and get everything taken care of.

On Wednesday morning I heard from my doctor's office Humana would not approve my surgery until I went through with more testing. My abnormal MRI was not good enough for them! The test requires me to have a needle in my spine with a dye injection - I am allergic to shellfish! I am not supposed to be given contrast dye! Now I have to take a medication before this test that is supposed to counteract any reaction I may have when the dye is injected. I called Humana myself to find out why I have to go through with all this before my surgery is approved - they said I did not meet criteria, 3 times I asked what the criteria were, 3 times my question went unanswered.

So right now, I am damned if I do and damned if I don't. My primary doctor says my allergy should be enough in itself not to go along with this test. If I don't get this test, I am left to suffer with chronic pain. There are plenty of people who suffer like myself that are on disability. I work in pain everyday. Where is my solution?

Will Rip You Off

FALLS CHURCH, VIRGINIA -- The Humana One plan is junk. Do not give them your bank account information. They will keep pulling random charges out of your account. I would give this plan negative stars if possible. I enrolled in this plan through eHealthInsurance and was not informed of some of the basics. First, I went to get my teeth cleaned at my regular dentist only to be informed after that Humana One would not cover the basic cost of cleaning my teeth because I was outside of the network area that they covered.

When talking to the insurance representative I had been assured that they would pay this cost or else I would not have selected them. After being charged an additional $54 enrollment fee on top of the $20 I had to pay monthly, I found that I could not cancel the contract because I had signed a one year agreement. Upon attempting to terminate after one year because they had automatically re-enrolled me for another year without my permission, I was charged a $21 cancellation fee, of which I was not informed. All in all one giant rip off.

2014 HMO Provider List Is Not Truthful

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA -- I reviewed the 2014 provider's list for my current Humana HMO plan. Mirroring the 2013 provider's list, the "Comprehensive Cancer Centers" is listed in the 2014 provider's list as of 11/6/2013. This cancer center is one of the top notch, if not the only significant cancer treatment center in Las Vegas, NV. There are other oncology centers, but in my opinion the CCC is the best. I talked with Humana's representative and she told me that my HMO for 2014 will include the CCC. I asked her for how long. She replied “13 days”. Coverage will end January 13, 2014 -- WOW!!!

It appears Humana is less than truthful. A consumer signing up for the Humana HMO plan expecting that the CCC will be included in his or her plan may be disappointed. I understand providers come and go, but in this situation, Humana is aware today (11-6-2013) that the CCC will be excluded in their HMO plan after January 13th, 2014, even though the CCC is listed in Humana's HMO providers list for 2014 without exceptions.

Hit Humana Where It Hurts

KENTUCKY -- My story is very long and I will log it later. My mother had two strokes and required 3 hours acute rehab care and Humana Medicare denied our choice because they told us there were other facilities (1 and 2 star rated) that could do the same. No thanks. So we fought back and are still fighting.

What I wanted to get across to all of the Humana screws is to lodge your complaints with the Better Business Bureau. The BBB must answer all complaints and currently Humana has an A+ rating. That's right AN A+ FRIGGIN' PLUS. That's got to change and with the help of all of us and by spreading the word, it can quickly change to a C or D and then, they will be in hurting status. PASS IT ON.

Beware of the Prescription Plan Thru Walmart

WEST PLAINS, MISSOURI -- I had Bypass Surgery and my wife thought we "Had" to have a prescription plan. She purchased the Humana Plan. They did not inform her that there was a $300.00 deductible. We do not use $300.00 in prescriptions a year and, we had a drug plan with the hospital where my wife works. Asked Humana for a dis-enrollment. They agreed to dis-enroll us on 07/31/2012 and sent us a letter of confirmation. Approximately 1 and 1/2 months later I received a phone call from a "Collection" agency, stating that Humana had turned us over for collection.

We had NOT received any statement, bill, or any correspondence from Humana since the letter of confirmation. We never used their plan and paid 9 months plus 2 more to the collection agency. I did complain and got a phone call from Humana, apologizing for the mix-up, but the damage to my credit was already done. I had prior to this a 780 score. Don't know now.

I'm leaving Humana RightSource RX

This company needs to be investigated. Humana is more concerned about their bottom line more than anything. I received an automated phone call stating they would not be covering one of my medications anymore. They claimed Medicare Part B covers it, although I don't have Medicare Part B, only A and I use this medication for a different reason. Doesn't matter to them.

They're weeding out people who need a lot of medication so they can make more profit. They discriminate towards people who need their services the most. They need to train their customer service people. Their accents are so thick I can't understand them. Humana is one of the death panels we've heard about.

Plan Not as Sold/Advertised 2011 or 2012 - Beware
By -

After checking out this plan because of drugs listed on their formulary and on Medicare's Find-A-Plan, I signed up in August. However, in checking the "Drug Guide" as they like to call it the drug is listed - however, it is not covered. First person at Humana I spoke with said "not covered" and I'm on Medicare's site showing me that it is. So I was confused when the 2012 Formulary arrived and it's listed in Humana's "Drug Guide" as covered.

So I again called Humana and asked about the drug and was again told that they had the latest up-to-date list and the drug is NOT covered. This was the Customer Service for members 1-800-281-6918. Not being satisfied I called the non-member's number for prospective members 1-800-706-0872 which is the Sales Office. Rep looked up the drug and said, "yes it is covered", how much it would be, etc.

When I told him I had checked and the member office told me it was not covered he just transferred me back to the same people I had already spoken with regarding the drug. Sales office and Medicare saying one thing, but in reality drug is not covered. So what the agent tells you will be anything but the truth to get you to sign up only to discover you will pay full price for the drug. Check it out for yourself. Humana couldn't care less and continue to sell misrepresented policy.
