Unhuman Treatment

PAINTSVILLE, KENTUCKY -- As a consumer from your state, I felt it was my responsibility to bring to your attention the following incident. This letter is concerning the treatment that my father received while being a patient at this hospital. My father was diag. as terminally ill with lung cancer. He lived in Ohio. He wanted to come visit me here in KY one last time. On his 2nd day I had to call the ambulance to take him to the hospital he could not rest or catch his breath. They put him in ICU. We had to wait 4 hrs before they put him in his room. They did not give him any thing to help him rest.

When he did get to his room they gave him a shot and told him that they gave him pills in the E.R. Wrong they never gave him anything. The nurse in ICU called aback down to Er they said "oh yeah we wrote it down but we didn't have any down here." So if I hadn't said anything he would have been charged for it and not got any benefits from it. I left him at 5:30 am and went on to work. When I went to visit him at 12:00 noon they had him tied up they said that he was disoriented. This cancer has caused him to be restless he can't be still so instead of giving him something to relax him they tied him up.

He was telling me that he wanted to speak to the supervisor. He knew exactly what he was doing. I told them he had to have something to relax him. They said he was out of his head. They told me they were giving him morphine. Then in the evening they said that the Dr didn't want to sedate him but yet they tied him up. My mother came in from Ohio and went to see him with my nephew. He was lying in his own waste. The nurse was a smart ass saying she just gives him a bath and he would have to wait until visiting time was over. At that time I told her to at least fix his IV it was dripping blood all over his bed.

She made the comment that she just didn't know what she was going to do with him. She grabbed his hand really rough. I told her that if it was too much trouble to take care of him I would have him moved to another hospital. I contacted the Dr in Ohio to start the transfer process. My father was getting worse. When my nephew and mother visited they had to plug back in the nurses call button. They had disconnected it not once but twice. They did this so they wouldn't have to deal with him. He begged and pleaded with me to take him out of there they were treating him worse than dogs he told me. I did take him out of their on that Friday against doctors orders.

The trip took 6 hours which is usually a 4 hour drive. They wanted 1200.00 cash to transport him. We drove him in his van. They admitted him once we got to Mt. Carmel Hospital. They gave him medication to relax him so he could finally rest. He also had liver cancer among other things. They put him in the cancer wing and made him comfortable. My father died on that following Tuesday June the 15th. It was a disgrace the way they treated him. That Sunday before he died he told me that He wanted me to sue them for the way they treated him.

As a resolution, I would like the following: My father is not the first person they have treated that way. If I had not moved him they would have let him die while being tied up. I would like for them to admit they were wrong to tie him up. He was not disoriented they just didn't want to fool with him. When I went to pick him up there was only one nurse in the entire ICU unit. We had to wait about 15 minutes until another one came in.

Tell me what would have happened if more that one critical care patient coded at the same time. Who would she have chose to try to save? I want them to pay for their inhuman treatment of my father. Please contact me if you need more details regarding this incident.

Very poor health care....

GLASGOW, KENTUCKY -- As a consumer from your state, I felt it was my responsibility to bring to your attention the following incident. I live in Barren Co. Kentucky. Anyone, young or old, cannot receive proper medication for severe pain relief for any reason. The DEA has somehow taken over the entire area. There have been too many suicides due to untreated pain. I have suffered for two years and have yet to find a doctor to treat and diagnose me, much less provide strong pain relief. I am honest, law abiding, and until two years ago, was healthy; never took anything but an aspirin now and then. My husband and I lived in Texas for about 6 months when my back pain became unbearable.

I went to a pain clinic, was told I have 'Failed Back Syndrome' and given a prescription for two medications: 1 non-narcotic, the other problem. When I got home, I went to the Urgent care doctor I always see, **. I showed him my records from Texas and my prescription bottles. I merely asked him to continue my treatment. He got lividly angry. Said sorry, he can't see me as a patient anymore and left the room! Next, I went to a new pain specialist, Dr. ** in Glasgow. He came in the room and said: 'Why are you here, anyway? If you need pain drugs, get out!' This has happened with four doctors so far.

My pain is level 9. I cannot even dress myself without the pain medication. What should I do? I cannot survive without something to control the pain whether narcotic or non-narcotic...I don't care as long as the medicine works, but the doctors won't even discuss it. Drug addicts and dealers don't go to doctors with medical records and X-ray reports, so why do they treat us like criminals? We're suffering, our lives are destroyed by pain, and they don't give a fig. One thing I am doing is getting a petition together (1100 so far) with similar complaints. We are writing an editorial together and will send it to every newspaper in KY. Enough...

As a resolution, I would like the following: I (we) want the doctors in this county to be reminded that they are healers. Supposed ease suffering whatever it takes and treat sick, hurting people with gentleness and kindness; not like stray dogs that don't matter. Living in severe pain is worse than death. An entire community is suffering here: children, adults, the elderly. Something has to be done to help us. The DEA has become the KGB and no one in power seems to care--until they are the victims of pain; oh yes, then something gets done... Please contact me if you need more details regarding this incident.

2003 Pontiac Aztek Lemon

MOREHEAD, KENTUCKY -- As a consumer from your state, I felt it was my responsibility to bring to your attention the following incident. I bought this Aztec new {my first new car-and my last}. I've had this car in the body shop and repair shop at Larry Fannins Chevrolet 17 times. The sun roof leaked and did not work from the first day. They replaced the whole sunroof twice and the electronics three times. It was in the shop about 8 times or more for that. We heard water slashing around and it took them over a year to find that.

I told them about a loud noise in the front and they said they did not have time to look at it. It got worse so I took it to major brand tire and they found a bad wheel bearing and I had to replace it. The water leak messed up the electronics and had to have that repair twice. I had it in for water leaks-the hatch lid would not work. All they would say is that it was under warranty. I did not want to live in the repair shop. I just had it in the shop about 3 weeks ago now I have another water leak.

I talk to Pontiac about this and they just offered oil changes and $1000.00 off my next GM product. while this was going on I was driving 140 miles round trip to the heart doctor. I had open heart surgery in December. This aggravation sure doesn't help. Can you please help me? As a resolution, I would like the following: REPLACEMENT AUTO OR MY MONEY BACK OR THE BLUE BOOK PRICE. Please contact me if you need more details regarding this incident.
