DALLAS, TEXAS -- My mom has a contract with them. They are horrible!! They claimed that we wrote out 2 hot checks, which is not true!! I called for my mom to get to the bottom of this because her bank stated they never sent the checks through!! So, a supervisor gets on the phone and asks me to fax the bank statements to prove there was money in the bank at that time and I did!! I called back and they claimed I never faxed the information!!

Then, another supervisor tells me I don't have to fax anything, they will investigate it in three to five business days and let me know if they are going to credit my mom's account or not!! You see, they charged her twenty-five dollars per check plus an extra 5% on her next bill. For now on, we pay only using a debit card therefore they can't say the money was not there. I will be so glad when her contract ends!! Worst customer service ever!!

Streams advertising is FALSE

DALLAS, TEXAS -- I have been with stream energy for the past 6 years. I recently signed up for a new "fixed rate" plan which was advertised as a great rate, 11.9. I will thrilled as my old rate ran 0.145. I received my bill today and was surprised that the new rate I signed up for was still at the old rate. When I called the customer service number I spoke with a young lady who sounded to be around 17.

I was told that my annual usage was below 1099 kwh calculated annually and I will be charged the higher rate. SOME GREAT DEAL STREAM. IT'S WORTH IT TO ME TO PAY THE $250.00 TO BE RID OF YOU! What a joke. They reel you in with these alleged deals only to take advantage of you in the end. Goodbye Stream, I won't be missing you.

Competitive Rates With Stream Energy??? I Don't Think So.
By -

I am extremely unhappy with STREAM ENERGY. Apparently I am not the only one either. Like others complaints that I have read, Stream also jacked my electricity rates to the max without any notice. My bill that month was the highest bill I have EVER had. They locked me in on lower rate but would not give me any credit for their company's lack in communicating with me about them changing my rates. But the new rate they gave me I found out was much higher than the other electric service providers competitive rates.

I call them a few days later after that to cancel the contract and that is when they informed me they only give 3 days to cancel. According to their customer service it was too bad so sad you are now locked into a high rate for the next 2 yrs and cannot get out of it unless I pay them 250.00 early termination fee. I decided to do it anyway and when I called they told me it is 399.00 early termination fee and not 250. Hummmmmmmmm!!!

I agree with the other upset consumers out there that are getting ripped off by Stream Energy. If you are looking for an electric service provider don't use Stream Energy. Find one that is honest and spells out their terms before you sign up!

Say NO to Stream Energy

DALLAS, TEXAS -- I have been a loyal customer to Stream for almost 3 years now. Recently I purchased a new home and had my electricity service transferred to my new home. I received two bills for my previous address for the same month. The last bill was the final bill and I was billed for only 7 days. To my surprise when I opened my bill and found a huge increase. According to the meter reading, I used twice the amount of kwh in 7 days than I had the entire previous month.

I called to request a re-reading of my meter only to be told to contact Oncor, that they are the ones who read the meters. I contacted Oncor but since the electricity was no longer in my name at the previous address, they couldn't do a re-read. I was told to contact Stream and make a formal complaint. I made my formal complaint and went and re-read the meter myself. I even took witnesses and took pictures of the meter!

I received a call from a Stream representative a few days later about my complaint only to be told that there was nothing they could do, and he continued to insist that it wasn't Steam's fault and the usage is consistent with the past. When I told him I had proof that the meter was read incorrectly he started spewing off numbers as if to confuse me. Bottom line is, Stream Energy lacks customer service skills and will screw you in a minute if given the opportunity! I do not recommend this company to anyone!

Stream Energy is a ripoff

TEXAS -- Stream Energy is a joke. A former client persuaded me to switch to their electric service and when my contract expired last summer, they didn't bother to notify me and my rate went through the roof. When I called to complain, the customer service representative just laughed. I then locked into a 2-year rate plan which is now about 3 cents higher per KW hour than the going rate.

Not only did they not return my email inquiring when my current plan was over and could I switch rates, but when I called today and talked to a supervisor, he was extremely unprofessional and totally unsympathetic. As a realtor, I'll instruct my clients not to switch to Stream and will do my best to tell everyone I know NOT to go with this company. They are the worst!

Early Termination Fee
By -

DALLAS, TEXAS -- Had been with Stream Energy for about 4 years. Has a few issues, but really slight. Did everything according to the book, i.e., auto draft, renewed agreements, never late, average billing, etc. When shopping for better rates, Champion had fixed rate at 9.7 kWh. Paid the extra $7.25 to ensure that my meter read was read after my contract expired. The meter read came for days after my agreement with Stream expired. Stream charged me an Early Termination Fee of $250.

I have filed a complaint with PUCT as sent Stream an email confirming my documentation of 14 months worth of notes of my agreement dates. Stream appears to be an unethical company that may be hurting financially. Look at Champion Energy instead.

Horrible Customer Service
By -

In an industry whose only real interaction with customers is the bill and customer service. They have won the race to the bottom. They fought us for several months about readjusting the balance billing amount we were required to pay. We went a whole year after making our home much more energy efficient.

When my wife was speaking with her for the Nth time she was offered a lower monthly rate as part of correcting their dragging feet. What they did not tell her was that we were "signing up for another of service." They send a disconnect notice if you are a few days past their due date. However they will not work with you to ensure your payment date works with your pay schedule.

I finally am able to switch, which I did, and now I got a call from Stream saying that I had to pay again today or have my service turned off. I am always up to date with this worthless company but feel like a criminal from their service. I would not wish these folks on my worst enemies. You have been warned.

DALLAS, TEXAS -- Turned power on for a friend in 2004 using Stream. He paid the bill for at least 5 years, he broke his leg had to move out to his moms in a different state. I called Stream told them the situation and gave them a forwarding address so I could pay the final bill. Got the bill and paid it. One month later I get an early termination bill for 250 dollars. Tried to resolve it but got nowhere even though we fulfilled the contract. Now it is still in collection. They will never get a dime out of me! I will not advise anyone to do business with this company.

Poor Customer Relations and Billing and Collection Practices

DALLAS, TEXAS -- Stream Energy arbitrarily changed my account to not send me a billing by mail even though I did not authorize this change and had received paper billings by mail for the approximate 7 years I had used Stream power. When I finally got someone on the phone to discuss the matter, they were rude, could scarcely speak with any intelligence, promised to fax me a copy of my current bill and abruptly hung up on me.

A second call by me gave the same result. Also, they did not fax me the promised statement. Stream is very aggressive when soliciting new customers and will promise anything, but afterward, contacting them and communicating is impossible. They are rude, dishonest and are miserable to deal with.

HOUSTON, TEXAS -- I was a customer for over a year and in the process of moving. I called Stream Energy JUST to transfer my electricity. After I got to a 3rd representative I was then told about a "new" policy that makes me start my enrollment over, meaning new account number and EVERYTHING. She then said the policy started on the 20th of March and the public knows nothing about it until its a service they need.

After all my info was put in the system again, I was "REQUIRED " to pay a $250.00 deposit for something I already have, just needed it to be transferred!!! Watch out people, because I think they are trying to get over on people. I'm switching my service and it won't be with them EVER AGAIN!!! # Total RipOff
