Aqua EZ Vac Pool Cleaner Consumer Reviews

Bought an Aqua EZ vac automatic pool vacuum at Lowes at the beginning of season in May. The unit works very well for the money but it has a design flaw they seem aware of but have yet to mark the packaging accordingly. This unit is going to be a problem for anyone with an in-ground pool with steps.

Within a month, the unit wore a hole in its arm. As with any auto vacuum, it is pulsating around the bottom and when it comes to the steps, it literally is gyrating against the bottom step as it tries to maneuver away and continue vacuuming. Problem is, the body of the arm is what contacts the rough cement steps, and the pulsating wears a hole eventually right in the unit. Hence this opens a leak in the vacuum and the unit stops moving.

I called about three months ago just to see what they would say and they sent me a brand new one. I could tell they get this problem a lot just by how the conversation went. To prospective buyers, unless you modify the arm and cover it with something to protect it, look for another model or at least check for a redesign (depending when you are reading this).

While I give an A for customer service, I can bet they won't keep sending new ones out. I do see now on the web, some marketing calls it an above ground pool unit now. I'm sure the box will eventually disclose for above ground or laddered in-ground pools only or they upgrade it with some sort of standoff as I can't imagine it's cost effective to keep sending replacements out. Great unit for the money, but not if you have Diamond Brite or marcite steps.
